View Full Version : Fixing a stolen scooter?

I had my scooter pinched yesterday but through a number of lucky breaks I managed to get it back.

Only problem I've got now is they've put a switch on my ignition so anyone can jump on and fire it up.

It looks like some sort of plug is missing? Does anyone know what part I need to fix this up and where I would get this from?

Also does anyone on here have a GPS tracker on their bike? Keen to look into that so if it happens again I'll know exactly where it is..

Cheers

Had a mate who bought a gps tracker for $17 on a site called Ail Baber (?), yes that's right $17.
It works quite well, as he demonstrated during lunch on a ride today. Bought it up on his phone on maps.
Im thinking of buying one for my bike.
Also gives the route travelled and pings a weigh point, I think that's a timed thing but im not sure.
Gives pozi within 5 metres or so.
Works on a sim card that you have to buy and fit to the unit.
Hard wired and put outa sight somewhere.

I asked him to e-mail me the link, and will post here when it arrives.

This thread should be in jokes and humor ... For $17 you cold get a dozen stubbies ... and wont THEN care where the bloody scooter was ...

probably not. they're more likely to make you a slave to debt and own your government. i don't think they give a fuck about scooters. except for how much money they can make out of financing them.

i appreciate the sentiment though!

http://www.alibaba.com/, havent seen that GPS item in particular, but a great source of cheap chinese stuff. The consumer-focused site is http://www.aliexpress.com/ and there's a ton of really cheap stuff.

edit: Should clarify, I've ordered stuff from AE before - really good service if you don't mind the extremely long delivery times. Factor in about 4-6 weeks, but free shipping in most cases.

edit2: And this will be the thing your mate bought: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Mini-Global-Real-Time-GPS-Tracker-A8-GSM-GPRS-GPS-Tracking-Device-Track-through-both-PC/1309501774.html

Dealextreme is a similar site.

You might wanna get a 5V DC adaptor while you're at it, it will make wiring a bit easier. Something along these lines http://www.dx.com/p/jtron-12v-to-5v-dc-dc-reduction-voltage-power-adapter-w-dual-usb-car-charger-black-272772#.Uzu84Pn1xH0

You seem to know about these thingis.
Why is it better to get this charger ( or any ) when its hard wired.
Not doubting you but curious. I know nothing about this stuff.

Yep I think that is the one, or a clone, seems to do what he claimed.
Should be good for tracking a missing bike.
