Is bike parking free at Wellington airport?
I just paid $29 for the day, then met a rider at the parking space who works there and has never paid - just goes around the barriers.
Anyone got an idea of the airport rules, and who pays and who doesn't?
Thanks

I had a look on the Wellington Airport website. They mention where the motorcycle parking is, but no mention of cost. In the Terms & Conditions they specifically refer to 'vehicle' and then in the definitions they mention that it includes specific types of vehicles ("vehicle means a vehicle in the ordinary sense of the word and includes...."), although no mention of motorcycles. All together the way I read it is - you should get away with it, but if they do decide to ping you on it, you'll be shit out of luck.
Also - whether you pay or not they take no liability for any damage caused, including if it is due to them moving the vehicle for some reason. To my mind that's an additional reason not to give the buggers any of your money.

By getting one of those tickets before you park you are entering a legal contract stating you accept any charges or fines by using their parks, if you simply ride around the barriers and dont get a ticket they cant make you do shit, unless they clamp or tow you, then youre fucked.

Parked a few times there, mind you before the new money grubbing system. Just ignored the barriers and parked up top in the end bay if for an hour or so. For longer stays I parked below and the pay guys said it was OK providing I didn't take up a car space - gave them some beers.
