Hi all, anyone know of a good affordable watch repairer here in Auckland? Got a watch that belonged to my dear old dad which could do with a service (the knob for adjusting the time seems to be stuck).

It's of more sentimental value than anything else, so I don't necessarily need someone who repairs Rolexs or Omegas but is just competent...

Cheers!

I have a business card (shaped like a pocket watch, yo!) from someone I used in Orkers to fix one of my watches. I will dig it out at work and get the details to you.

Yes in New Lynn .... the Precision Watch Company ... I was recommended to go there by a clock repair guy who spends his time on large clocks and they did my Omega watch, and at a reasonable price.

I have just had two watches repaired[one was my late dads] and basically all they needed was a service . Watchworld on the shore. Also you could try Watches on Broadway in Newmarket,Blair the owner is a motorcyclist and is a member here.

I've used Nairns in Queens Arcade. Very happy with the service.

Thanks all!

I'll check out the ones named and wait for the un-named others whose names were not mentioned to be named...

...and the bill too?

I figure a $300 bill after owning a watch for 12 years isn't bad going.

Yeah,I thought $170 for a 50 year old watch that had probably never been serviced pretty good.

The one I used was Precision Watch Co Ltd 13 Totara Ave, New Lynn in sunny Orklind.

Ph 8270034

I kept their card because it looks like a pocket watch. Must have been a while ago because there are no email or website details on it......

I can't even remember which of my watches they fixed - think a cheap Seiko mechanical that I used to wear maybe? The did a good job and very reasonable price as I recall.

Hope that helps - and I see I am not the only one recommending them.

I hope they were both mechanical watches ;)

Make sure you get at least two/three quotes and that they're not just sending it away. There is a huge variation in prices across the industry I've found, although a little depends on the brand.

Not a heck of a lot of quartz movements in 1964.

OK thanks, will do... Beauty of being on a bike means it's easy to get to those places and I'm always looking forward to the journey! LOL
