Well we all moan that our sort doesn't get enough coverage but today we got the whole of the front page of the Waikato Times. The heading was just about bigger than the Royal headings.
Riders to be P Tested
It is up on Stuff as well but I am not computer literate enough to work out how to link it sorry.
It has a half page photo of Lance Lowe on his bike. It's a shame and disgrace that somebody who only races once in two years can drag the sport and name of Road Racing down to this level when there are so many out there doing their best to give Road Racing a good name. The other sad part of it all was to name the rider who ran over him. Although the coroner said he was not to blame why did he have to have his name dragged into it.
Jim Tuckerman though I will give credit to as he stated that MNZ had changed the rules so that you had to do three club meetings in the past twelve months before competing at this type of event. He also said that they were involved in having riders drug tested randomly starting possibly in July.

There are actually two bike related stories front and centre on the website.
The other one is about the toy run.

awesome, 1 person now causes a new rule to come in, that will make clubs have to do tests, which will cost money, and cause more stress to already stressed clubs workers,

would th cost involved in this not come from the sporting tribunal and Not MNZ as such
In the past when I have been drugged tested, it had NOTHING to do with any one from the club at all apart from the introduction to the test team that came to do it, no matter what ya here I passed every single time

Yeah, there's only one rider in NZ on the P... I have at NZSBK Hampton Downs (2010 or 11?) At Manfeild 2011 NZSBK ? ) with no positive results and Paeroa again! (when a top rider was caught with dope in his system and lost his licence and ride I think). No room for drugs or booze in the systems of racers I'm all for Zero level , If the adrealine that racing gives you isn't a big enough buzz then get off the track .

Zero level on track is exactually how it should be.

If you have nothing to hide you have nothing to worry about. Drug testing is a good thing.
if you have enough money to soke P AND race bikes, your probably a crim or doing something dodgy anyway.

Dead right Rev/Dr/Mr Chow.
Random testing has been in place for quite a few years, and it is truly random, as in the Organisation(MNZ) doesn't timetable it.
I tried to arrange a sneak attack a coupla years back, and they don't just do it "at our request" - the testing regime is very thorough and there IS no grey with the guys doing the testing........ Exactly as it should be
The new programme about to start with MNZ is, as I understand it, supplemental ( i.e additional ) to the existing setup.
Cant come soon enough ........

once agin shit reporting, traces of P, dunno anything about how long that shit stays in your system and coroner didn't state how long they thought it had been there either, might have been a factor or just muckraking.

Been quite a few before that too, suppose in a back-handed way its a positive thing that we should have to reel them off on here ........ IF there'd been positive tests, it would be all over this site

That was before the new rule came in and he only required 3 entries in his logbook in total.

Too true,
Funny how when I brought up the idea of us doing our own testing last year,I was told it would breach the agreement we had with drugfree sport NZ,I guess this will be another good idea the board came up with then???? Just like the beath analyser I suggested we get.

Sorry mate, should have warned you I guess - your request obviously came along after mine ( pretty sure I CC'd you a copy of the outside Contractors quote at the time - if not, still got it on file ), and there was an answer ready for you ! If we all shake enough trees, all sorts of sh1t will no doubt fall out.
The IMPORTANT thing is that it is all go now, the existing one with the new MNZ system in action as well will sort out any idiots who put everyone elses lives at needless risk

Certainly was a problem alot earlier than most think,I wasn't suggesting that I was the instigator of drug testing,Just relaying the reason I was given for us not doing it ourselves.

Yep plenty of it back then , Coke , Smack , Pills , and booze you name it . Living in Christchurch then there was plenty on offer and easy to get , looking back it was crazy , I remember going to Australia in the late 1990's and at a race at Oran Park wondering why some riders where sucking on cough/flu lollies when they didn't have colds or anything , you can't buy that brand now without a prescription and signing for it.
What about these new fangled legal highs can they be traced? That shit should be completely banned , I have seen a work mate who has been fucked up severely because of that crap.

possibly, P is like that as in it leaves your system very quickly, that is why a lot of (for example) Oil rig workers smoke it these days.
POT I believe stays attached to your system for the longest. If you know anyone that smokes Pot ask them how they feel the next day after getting stoned only on Pot, then ask someone who got pissed/drunk the night before and how they how they feel the next day, yet the drunk will pass a breath test, go figure.
Race tracks and drugs an alcohol do NOT belong together, if you are going to use drugs get a test done by your GP to know how long it stays in your system as everyone is different so you are clean and 100% safe for all involved around you
