Hi there
Ive brought a 2008 Yamaha Scorpio but the backlight for the speedo looks to be blown. Ive tried getting into the speedo by unscrewing all the coverings around it but no success. Seems simple to get in there and change a light bulb but i cant find a way of getting into the speedo where it lives. Any suggestions? Cheers

I had that problem at first with mine but you're on the right track, need to remove the housing behind it.

Remove the speedo cable (it just unscrews), trip reset, I think you may have to loosen headlight (don't quote me)... just remove bits and it will come.

Consider an LED maybe (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php/156267-Confusing-bulbs?p=1130541156#post1130541156) if you hate doing it enough, but you'll get the hang of it.

I'm in the same boat. Get a manual or micro fiche file which shows you how the front end goes together. Might save you undoing stuff you don't need too.
I have not bothered replacing mine yet, I could probably take the motor out of the frame in less time. The front end lay out on my bike needs somebody with three hands, 6" fingers like pipe cleaners & x ray vision. Absolute PITA.
Good luck.
Oh, be very careful with dis-assembly & re-assembly. There maybe all sorts of funny screws, washers & grommets in there. The plastics are quiet fragile if you put weight on them or over tighten screws.
What has scared me off is the fact that taking it to bits is a maze so how bloody hard will it be getting it back together?
I sincerely hope it's a much simpler job on your bike.

Did I say PITA?
