Anyone have a recommendation on cobblers around Wellie to repair my boots? the rubber patch for the gear lever has disintegrated so I need to get a leather piece added to replace it.
Cheers

The store in the main foyer at Wellington Railway Station is excellent, both in terms of workmanship and cost.

Lesvos? I'm a bit dubious of them - I had a suitcase repaired by them after AirNZ decided mine needed more ventilation, and they put a really nasty patch of a completely different material on (roughly cut out fake leather vs the fabric that my case was made out of) with no attempt to make it look nice in anyway. When I mentioned my displeasure they couldn't give a stuff.
Have you had work done by them Hitch?

Hurry Up Shoe Repairs in the BNZ centre at the bottom of willis st. http://www.hurryup.co.nz/
They've been there many many years, got a mate who uses them whenever she needs shoe/boot work done, they do a good job can't comment on cost though

The rubber patches on top of my bike boots were peeling off, and these are the folk I got to fix them. Seem to have done a good job. And it's lasted.
I also got them to fix the domes (above the front zip) on my wet weather pants, and that was also good. They had to stitch in new material for the domes to be mounted on.
Also had them fix various shoes and boots, also mostly good; the Wife did once complain that the stitching on some boots I got fixed for her, didn't match well.
So maybe the trick is discuss the fix with them prior, if looks and stuff are important.

Yes, I've had zip replacements in bags and jackets; boot resoling; and a comprehensive repair of a near new Teknic jacket that had got itself a bit munted when its wearer got rolled around between a coarse chip roadway and an Aprilia Shiver.

I'd have considered getting a patch sewn on the other side as well. The bag would be much easier to spot on a baggage carousel.
Maybe that's just a glass half full thing?

They're great. I've had zips replaced in both Fabric and Leather motorcycle gear, pockets repaired, boots and gloves repaired, motorcycle luggage repaired, kids shoes repaired for free, wet weather oversuit zips repaired and they've all ended up better than the original solution.

Nah, they just made it look shit. Didn't sew it, just badly glued and untidily cut. Not even carried the patch on to the side. Ruined a great case and couldn't give a rats arse when I expressed my displeasure

Highly recommend the guy at Dixon St shoe repairs. He's put new soles on my Sidi's + numerous pairs of workshoes etc. Top quality job and service.

Ahh, now that's the guy that "stole" a pair of my boots. See? We all have different experiences.
Took a pair in to get a slight sole separation repaired and came back a week later with the little ticket thing and he claimed he had no boots of mine. Never saw them again.

Pretty sure the managment has changed recently, when did that happen ? just to be fair.
I have had good results on shoes at "Keez n shooz" in the Grand arcade lower Willis st, for leather repairs most shops refer to the Railway station guys where I have had mixed results.

Nope. No point going apeshit either.

2008. Never had any issue with Lesvos. In fact, when they think they've done a job that won't stand up, there's usually no charge.
The point remains however. When you buy a business you buy its reputation. I won't go back there, irrespective of who runs it, because I'm $500 out of pocket.
