Bloody rain
Just had a major landslip - its taken out two retaining walls, damaged the house and destroyed the garage.
Fortunately the Ducati was in the opposite corner from where it hit and was protected by the Rangie.
Shame about the damage to the ovloV - Not. It got punted about twelve metres and only stopped from going over the bank by a tree.
Biggest loss so far is a good mountain bike buried somewhere in there under tons and tons of wet crap

Fingers crossed that nothing else goes. Can I have the badges off the ovloV so I can upgrade my Ford?

If we junk the thing - which seems likely - you sure can. Do you want the leather seats too? :)

Yeah .. Scott McLaughlin seems to be doing well in the Volvo - certainly giving it the jandal and beating a few Fords ..

Thankx for the offer. Storage is needed, but it really needs to be a bit closer to home (Chch).

What suburb? Your neighbours OK?
If you don't have anything by the end of the week PM me if a place in Diamond Harbour or Leeston would be suitable.
I know two dudes who would help at the drop of a hat but they are swimming around their own garages at the moment.
Also if you need some help on the end of a shovel (although it sounds like it might be a bit more than that) start a thread on here man and I'm sure a few will rally to help.

Thankx for the offer - but this one is way too big for a manual solution.
Insurance wallah was supposed to come before lunch, now they say tomorrow.
The garage is history, the wall and garden leaning against the house are stable (for now)

If you're on the hill anywhere round ChCh, it's loess clay.....I've lived Diamond Harbour,Mt pleasant and Huntsbury - and worked in Port too so i've seen what happens when it gets wet....Not a lot you can do.
Hope you get a co operative insurance assessor.

I have some garage space in Redwood, with another ducati to keep it company if you need it.
As if there wasn't enough shit after the earthquakes, it just keeps coming....

Sure does.
Quakes might have loosened the wall, but the main culprit seems to be water coming from the re-build site above us.
The family have had this place for over 55 years now, and the water has only been a problem since that (expletive deleted) re-build started.

yeah, it's the unexpected extra water that does the damage. Our worst was on Huntsbury when a water main above us broke.....
Worst i've seen was in port - the stormwater drains which have been built over are big brick lined suckers. When some bricks drop out and partially block the channel - then it rains heavy - I've seen a whole backyard go and the hole went right under the house too.
from what you describe i'd imagine it's going to get messy - insurance co Vs insurance co......

It also involves two sets of neighbours, and being a landslip EQC and the council are probably going to want to stick their oars in too.
Quite a nightmare :(

Yeah turns out I haven't been eating THAT many Weetbix sorry. Certainly could have been worse and glad you're ok.
