Morning all,
I have today and tomorrow off :woohoo::woohoo:. Trying to figure out a good day loop from Glenfield. Either to corro or north. Needs twists and turns and a few straights. Should be light traffic as well as all other mortals should still be working.
Thanks!!!!! :2guns:

Up to Hokianga through Dargaville, then back down the east coast, but in at waipu out to Mangawahai, then either wimp out and take the seal back to wellsford or head on the gravel and down to Leigh.:2thumbsup

< this.
matakana valley is fuckin awesome.
unless there's aucklanders out.
16 to taupaki turnoff, old north road to kaukap, 16 to wellsford, 1 to bryndy, west out to paparoa, right up to taururoa, left ish to maungakahia, through to 14? left to dargz, north to waipoua, opos, ferry over the water, up to kait (cape?), down round the eastern bays (doubtless, coopers et al), ferry to russel (smile politely, they'll let you take the bike...) old russ road down to kauri, hook off east at hikuz, and nose your way south to parua, back over town roads to whangaz, south on 1 to waipu, out to bream tail, down to mangawhai, left to matakana valley on main rd back to warkworth, take the tauhoa? turn east at the south end of town back out to 16, keep on 16, stop at helensville pub, back through kuumyuuuu home.
easy.
or take the KTM and ride the coast. all the way.

Did some of that last week, Dargaville, Rawene Ferry up 90 mile beach, up to the Cape which was crowded, back down SH one to Kaitia which is an excellent bit of road. Twin Bridges Road from kaikohe, some great gravel bits to maungaturoto , then the horrible SH1 and back on to SH 16 to Kumeu. Good coffees are thin on the ground, was nice to get back to Grey Lynn.

If you do not mind the gravel, Baldrock road, on the left just south of the bottom of the brenderwyns, is a good alternative to the SH1 section between the hill and wellsford. When you get to the Kaiwaka Mangawhai road turn left, then the next right, takes you through the middle to the Te Hana- Mangawhai rd. Then you can either ride back out to Te-Hana and through to port albert and 16, or go through the silverhills road back to tomorata and the dome valley.:Punk::Punk:

The Rawene ferry is a big day .My suggestion , Sh16 to Wellsford , out to Dargaville. Waipoua forest to Kaikohe , back down the twin bridges road , then head for the Oakland / Paparoa Rd & back down SH16.
When you get to the end of the Twin Bridges Rd make the call re time , You may chose to head to Waipu & come back through Mangawhai, Leigh, Matakana.

+1 to that,
we used to do that when we went for a long ride on a Sunday, lunch at Opononi.
Great ride when it's dry, can get a bit of moss in the forest.

Figured it’s pointless starting my own thread so I’ll ask here…
Wondering if anyone has ridden these roads in the last week, planning on doing a two up ride with the Mrs and this is part of the ride I wanna do on Saturday coming. I know old north road can be a bit dodgy at times with roadworks and general road conditions, anything to be careful of? (Except the ordinary)

Good condition. Go for it!:ride:
Don't use SH16 from kumeu heading north as there are major road works.

There is a wee bit of gravel between Wellsford and Matakana. Then either go home via Woodcocks or 1.
