My helmet in australia was an AGV K3, rated 4/5 stars in sharp crash test
Only cost $199

What's the cheapest 4+ star helmet in NZ?

Every helmet looks shiny (except matte finish ones) and every manufacturer claims noggin saving capabilities (except those Jewish hat looking half helmets).

Lets rephrase, who has had their face run over whilst wearing a budget helmet? Opinions?

I have seen the aftermath of an accident in a cheap plastic one, it bounced and the noggin split. Helmet still looked fine apart from some scratches.

Here is my $130 LS2 *model: single mono 351. Terrific hit from a logging truck. No head injuries. I was impressed with this helmet the moment I first examined it prior to purchase.

Alright, so his face wasn't actually run over, but it still seems noteworthy.

^^

Still a few years left in that ;)

In that price bracket my pic would be a Shark S650 (if you can handle the noise, everything else about it is awesome) or an LS2 IS-17 (which that dude with terrible customer service down Tuam St in Chch sells pretty cheap on the net).

I got an LS2 'ride' for $180 but don't like it so just found a source for a Shark Evoline 3 for about $140 which has a 5 star rating from memory.

.

Don't know about the no head injuries bit though. He seems a bit brain damaged to me.

if max safety vs minimum price balance is your goal, id suggest that regular trawling of trademe for end of line clearance specials should see you right
