I have bought a 2001 KTM LC4 400.....
For the life of me I cannot get the rear wheel off...The bike has been sitting for awhile but only 550 km on the speedometer, so is practically brand new, but...
I have tried a little persuasion with a block of wood and a hammer, but still won't budge.
I do think I need perhaps another person to steady the bike on the hoist, perhaps the best method is to take it to a dealer?
Two new tyres are waiting for me.
The front was quite difficult to get off as well. I greased it well before re-installing it.
Hints, methods from you guys would be helpful?
Thanks...

Use crc, spray the axle and bearings you'r best to lean it over its just never had the axle greased
Does it not have a side stand? Should be able to get the axle moving with it on a lean and then throw it on the hoist to finish the job.
Get some CRC and heat onto it. Should be able to shimmy it back and forth to get CRC all through it and have it come off easily if you can get a little bit of movement.
Failing that, order another axle (just in case), get a bigger hammer, put the nut partially back on and go to town on it to get some movement. You can throw a bit of wood over it to try save it but I find there is a point where caring goes out the window :bleh:
Grease it before you put it back in to save the hassle next time.
So little KM's for something that old I'd say this is just the beginning of the fun you're going to have :bleh:

Thanks for that...
I have a box of genuine KTM bolts, screws and such..
I sprayed CRC throughout and it is amazing what a difference it made to Carburetor, Stator and other bits....
The bike is looking flash...
I must say I haven't been too serious about getting it off, but will maybe try next weekend....More perseverance....
Old? naaa.....It is new old.....Just a tad neglected.

Thanks, will try that, on the side more CRC will make it's way down the axle....
Yep, wheels haven't been off since 2001....still on the same set of Endurance 3 tyres from the factory. The front passed barely but he rear looks sweet still...
