Welcome Pacemaker. Good luck with the biking. :ride:
I am just on my learners at the mo and got to get my confidence up. Most of the family is in Tauranga so get down there a bit. I went to sec. school there and then lived there again from 1991 - 1995, so know the place well. If you have ridden a push-bike and/or a horse and have driven a car you should be able to pick up the basics.

Good luck.

Gidday pacemaker. Im in Tauranga too. Sat my basic skills test about 5 years ago, passed first time even though id only ridden a push bike, and never used a clutch before. Youll be right! All the best, you will be riding in no time! :2thumbsup

sweet... i got the basic skills cert...

took me like 1.5 hours of practice to pass the test...having never been on a bike and not been on a puch bike in like 6 years i kinda sucked :)

The chap that ran the test was a very nice man and very patient... got some good exercise push starting the bike as his battery was dead :)

What sort of bikes do you like.. Sports, tourers or cruisers??????

Go to the bike shops in your area and sit on all the 250cc's and see what you feel comfortable on and also get a idea for size for you.

Then when you figure out what you like... then you will get an idea on how much money you will need.....
Plus also take into account you will need a new helmet,
a jacket, gloves, boots and bikepants.....

You can buy jackets, gloves ,boots and bike pants on Trade me at a pretty good low cost as some are selling stuff due to them out growing them gear.

But Buy a brand new helmet.
