Bit late asking now,

For the record, they are a good scooter. reliable and providing it is maintained and ridden properly, it will last without any major problems.

IIRC Sym is a well known Taiwanese brand and there is very little criticism of them over here.

I would say that the experiences of SYM owners expressed on various forums would be reasonably accurate.
