Hi,
I picked up a Yamaha scorpio 2010 with 30 000ks on it and I have be given quite a wide range of numbers from a $180 economy service to $300 ish. I was just wondering how much money I should invest in this bad boy ? I was also planning on replacing the tyres before winter and have received a quote from cycletreads to replace both tyres at $231.
Thanks

$231 might get me a cheap front tyre. Get a manual and do the service yourself.
Great wee bikes.:niceone:
$300 for a through service? Fuck that's cheap. That's approx cost of a single BMW OEM rear view mirror.

That a cheap mirror? Heard of older model Jag mirrors costing $500-$600.
OP, perfectly ball park for a service. Make sure the tyres aren't the cheapest crap. It's what keeps you upright in all the joy of winter.

Wot he said.
Change the oil and filter and adjust the chain yourself, spend what you saved on upgrading a level on new tyres.

Might have to ring cycletreads back and see, otherwise I might have to find some reel tyres. Sounds like my biggest problem is coming to the realisation that the wee scorpio will probably be the cheapest bike i'll ever own! haha

Ask for a raise before you upgrade ;)

$230 for both tyres? That's dirt cheap. Mine isn't even a performance bike and the rear alone was $200 fitted, I think the same size as your rear tyre too. I think shinkos at cycletreads were around $100 each, it's probably them. Get some better tyres than that, my friend runs shinkos and his front has slipped on him twice now and the tyres aren't even badly worn! We were both doing round the same speed through all the corners too and I didn't have any issues.
Metzeler lasertecs are highly recommended for Scorpios. I wonder if Pirelli sport demon or Battlax BT45 fits on Scorpios, or even BT39SS.... Mmmmmmmm that'd be fun!!!

if they are shinkos you're going to be in for a surprise when you change to new tyres. Just Take it easy! Gotta wear those tyres in!
