Recommended upholsterer in Christchurch?

Hi all :wavey:

My custom seat cover has finally arrived from Germany (where my footpegs are is still a mystery lol)
Can anyone recommend a good Upholsterer in ChCh (My late father was an upholsterer, so I understand the need for a good car/boat/seat specialist...not a lounge suit specialist lol)

I could probably do it myself if pressed, but I would rather someone with the right tools and experiance does the job.(And can treat the vinyl and stitching etc at the same time)

Any recommendations?

The guy I used on Linwood Ave for my CB400F seat does not appear to be there any more.

I was in at Cycle Supplies before Christmas looking at pushbikes and there is a guy in the unit behind them who does custom upholstery. He rides a Hardly to work but don't hold that against him. I haven't used him but might be worth checkingout.

I will follow this thread because i have a Street triple seat with a rip in it which I would like re-covered.

I have used Agnew Brothers on Montreal street.

I was happy with their work.

I had a supplied seat cover fitted by Patrick Auto Trimmers, 359 St Asaph Street, nice guy to deal with and he even sorted getting the seat base plastic welded for me while it was there after he pointed out some cracks to me and it came back looking mint

Kick, sounds like awesome service to me...I will give Patrick Auto Trimmers a call tomorrow and see if he will fit the seat cover for me :yes:

I've a cover from them on my Hornet. I usually go to Auto and Marine - have had very good service there, went to the other recommend place above -cost was higher than I expected at $90 to fit (should have asked first ......), went there as I was driving past and half of Fitzgerald Ave was closed (bloody earthquakes) so did not triple back to Auto and Marine.

Also I dropped the seat only in - I had to refit the cover at the front as it did not line up with the tank - now I doubt this would have happened if they had the bike to trial fit when doing the work. Just out there for consideration.

Anyway - all good now.

Side note - check over all the stitching on the cover first - the first one they sent me was faulty - obvious where the machine had run out of thread! Good internet service though as they replaced it pronto. They probably shot the maker of the original as they mark the back with worker and inspector signatures.

Oh - and print out the sample fitted picture and drop that in so they can see how it is all meant to line up.

I have already checked the seat cover thoroughly for exactly as you stated, no dropped threads or pinching etc, honestly very impressed with the quality of the cover for the price :yes:
Yeah, the service was amazing!...they went out of there way to ensure the exact red and gold stitching & piping was used to match the bikes original color and current VFR decals, and they nail it!:D
Very good call regarding taking the whole bike in...Ive been pondering that due to the necessity of the middle piping havng to match up with the rear seat cowl...would be much more accurate if the whole bike was there for them:yes:
Hmmm...I might as well slow down, check both places out then book in with the most suitable next Friday, as I have that off and can spare the bike for the day.(no rush after all...My "temp cover" is still working great, and so is my spark plug remover/footpeg!)

...speaking of which...where the hell ARE my footpegs?:confused:

I'm impressed with my cover - very tidy work. One other tip - they come folded in the shipping pack - place the cover in a sunny sport in the house and as it warms up over the day it will lose most of the fold marks - pulling it over the seat foam tidies up any balance.

I ummmed and arrrred over coloured piping - clickes silver then de clicked came back the next day .... played it safe with black but ...... darn it would have looked smart!

Dropped the bike off this morning to Auto & Marine

Gave Bryan the pic's of what the seat should look like and we discovered that the cover was in need of a wee...mod!

The VFR inscription, if put on normally, would be under the single seat cowl...completely hidden :(
We played around with some ideas, studied there picture of how its "meant" to be fitted, and decided to go with a slightly different approach.
Once we had it decided, Bryan said leave it to him...so I did! (and walked in full leathers home...dont do this...you end up smelly...er!:crazy:)

As you can see by the pics attached...I think he did an amazing job altering the cover placement to suit my whim's :niceone:
Now the VFR logo is visible with the cowl on :clap: (...and the front edge of the seat doesn't have a big sewing join where my legs go)
I will take some more pics with the seat cowl off and some of the seat itself over the weekend...I'm to busy sitting here drinking and looking in awe at the bike, and just how bloody good it looks with a real seat cover now :laugh:

I have to say...Auto & marine...AMAZING!, Top bloke, great service, fine work and all at a great price...I honestly can't rate him any higher KBers...you need seats etc done, go see Bryan at
