I would say yes going by some of the angles they do on car fenders.
You'd be wanting a proper pro to do it...

Safety nazi may have an issue. A helmet is designed to slide easily, so it won't bite in and snap your neck. Would a vinyl layer make the helmet grip the ground in a slide?

Cops won't have an issue, and chances are it'll be fine, but worth a thinky

I want to protect (mainly) the beautiful hand applied paint finish from scratches, garks and abrasions. Even being really careful I find helmets collect little dings. since this is the most expensive helmet in the world [jermey clarkson voice] in. the. world.[/Jeremy Clarkson voice] then I want to look after it. Obviously if I lob it up the road then I want it to do its job but I want to look after it in the meantime.

"Slings and arrows", he said. Everyday commuter hazards really. Jeez, pay attention!

Wear HiViz and it will be fine.

You probably won't be able to do the helmet in a single piece, as that's a seriously complex shape, but in a few pieces, sure (or perhaps one odd shape... use the visor opening actually). Use some of the 3M 1080 wrap, but general rule of thumb from their advice is no more than 30% stretch in the vinyl, and too much stretch near the edges and it can retract over time...

Are there many pros around that do that shit? I want to do part of my air box/tank

I read the decals on helmets are very difficult to apply correctly and the good helmet maker employ young women with firm breasts to gently apply the graphics with their chests.

Interestingly as the women age and gravity takes it's natural toll they are transferred to seat manufacturing overlaying the vinyl seat covers onto the bases. Later on in their careers they get to balance Harley engines with their boobs ........thus the often heard reference to HD cylinders as 'jugs'. True story.

Remembered something else, the professional places usually offer free quotes, but you may find them more setup for commercial vehicle writing and car wrapping...

I'm finally getting around to playing with wrap shortly. Been wanting to vinyl a couple of panels on the GSA to remove the silver, then I fancy wrapping my ute...

I thought I would practice with wall paper before trying vinyl.:doh:

yes they can, I know of a number of poeple that have had motocross helmets, and car racing helmets wrapped instead of custom painting them

I know Graphics HQ in Palmerston North does them,

just don't use your precious name-brand helmet.
you have already wasted thousands, would be a shame to have to use it for protection.
Leave it in the box.
Get some ARAI stickers and put them on your FFM.

Sorta wish I'd thought of protection like that when I bought my first hat with a "racer" paint job. Guess I'll just have to remember never to put them on the seat, because short of a disgraceful dismount that's the cause of most crash helmet damage.

yes ive seen videos of ppl using drums with the top cut out and the side cut out,
you attach the vinly to the top of the drum , heat the vynal, and then PUSH the helmet into the drum , then re apply heat and walah you has a wrapped helmet :)

If you use knifeless tape, you can use multiple sheets which will be easier to wrap and less likely to scratch/come off.

The Aprilia is going to get wrapped later this year.
