What are some tips to keep a tank from rusting? I have replaced my tank and now want to keep the old tank from rusting whilst sitting on the shelf.

Maybe get some cheap motor oil and chuck a liter in the tank - swish it around to coat it. You will probably have to repeat the swishing every four - six months as it will naturally gravitate to the bottom when sitting. Also you may like to remove the in tank filter if it has one first, replace with a suitably sized bolt?
Obviously it would need a good flush out if you are reusing.

Get the tank lined .. and leave stored without putting fuel in it ..
