What can be said. It is terrible. Unacceptable.

At least they have enacted serious penalties now, but it still has to filter down and a cultural change occur.

yes, India has serious cultural issues regarding women's rights to not be beaten and raped. But NZ is not squeaky clean what with heinous Roastbusters etc.... and that poor woman murdered this week in Auckland....

Do a quick Google search on this and there are pictures etc of those poor girls hanging in that tree... Its pretty bloody sobering and done to display the bodies as intimidation. Absolutely horrific to our eyes but I guess there are still societies out there that have a very primitive social structure...

What pisses me off is that our big companies have no issues outsourcing to these countries.

Cheers

The govt may have tightened up the laws regarding rape, but to most of the ruling bodies, this is just window dressing for the outside world.

These girls were from the 'untouchable' caste, so the govt wont really give a shit about them.

We may be outraged but some of our community are only a small step away from behaving the same way! It's a funny world y'know!

I think comparing the "roastbusters" to the Indians is a little off the mark there.
They didn't murder anyone and we are talking about a whole different level of offence.

"A group of men, including at least two police officers, raped and killed two teenage sisters in rural India then hung their bodies from a mango tree."

Also our police, while they do have a few rapists' among them, tend not to murder very frequently, either.

India, eh.

My question on this case ... who was it that first accused the victim of rape? ... that person (presumably a woman) has some accountability for this outcome!

This case should not come to closure until that accusation has been declared true or false! A charge (if false) is too easy to walk away from! :shifty:

Note: Not to make light of genuine charges of rape and all the associated difficulties for those victims!

.......................far too close to the reality of their backward barbaric mentality, anything involving theft, violence and intimidation seems to be their forte, cant even try to pull them up on spitting/snot blowing with it erupting into a brawl, and don't even think about telling their kids off for stealing unless you want the whanau on yr back threatening thuggery-sadly I am related to some and they too are of similar nature, big cringe thanks to a sloppy uncle who didn't keep it white, cant stand that cuzzybro culture crap......wanna bread?

and the only way that shit is ever going to stop is not by girls and women covering up, staying at home at night, having someone wait at their last bus stop on the way home from work, or by walking with an open knife in their hands (that was me for years on my way home), but by rapists not raping and killing or simply all the non - rapists standing up to those that would say boys will be boys and just simply say no....no this is not how boys are being boys.

We may not be talking about the level of violence of murder - but we are certainly talking about rape - are you saying that there are different levels of rape???

In this case yes.. The Indian rape case was likely less about sex than most. It was more about intercaste hate/dominance/intimidation and I guess the sex part was just an added attraction. Its often said rape is more about power than sex and in this case I think very much so.. Roastbusters, less so I guess.

This is all supposition on my part - I'm neither sexy or a rapist or powerful...

Perhaps.
A single rapist Vs pack rape Vs pack rape upsized with a dollop of murder added in, which is what we have here.

for those that are confused about the different levels of rape

http://jezebel.com/5936160/the-official-guide-to-legitimate-rape

any rape is always only about dominance over someone, be it a women/girl or man/boy.

And yes, some end in murder because they can

like this one, and as a prostitute one could assume that she would have been a member of the lowest socio economic caste NZ has to offer.
