Hey fellow beer lovers, Here's one to avoid...
Moa Sessionable Pale Ale
The normal Moa Pale Ale isn't too bad - that's the one with the metallic label
This one has a blue and white label
It tastes like dirt, has poor mouth feel and a watery aftertaste.
Definately one to be avoided

I normally limit myself to Bookbinder when riding as it is a bit less strong than the others but last night had a similar strength Tuatara Iwi.
I had to have a beer afterwards.

One word Epic.
Agree that Emersons is a nice drop.
Avoid Crafty Beggers..... one hop per 1000 litres like most Lion and DB products.
Monteiths Imperial lager is a good drop as is the Double Hopped IPA.
Missus brought home some Russian beer....they should stick to Vodka.

++ bouncing czech. All the Boundary Road 'craft' stuff is good. They also do Holsten pilsner under licence which is nice.
Mac's sassy red is a nice reasonably-priced best bitter.
I personally can't stand anything Monteith's, I think their beer is shite and has been ever since being bought as a trophy wife by DB, who then proceeded to pull the fucking douchebag move of trademarking the name of a style of beer (Radler) and taking another brewer to court over it :angry2:

Eeewww boutique beers, every time I try those new ones its always disappointing...
I think the lasting flavour is improved if your first taste if whatever is accompanied by good times worth remembering :)
But in no particular order as don't drink much anymore, I like and would drink again:
Tui
Lion Red
Speights
Macs Gold
Tiger
and from overseas, and I mean the genuine stuff not the fake 'brewed under licences in NZ rubbish
Stella
Carling Extra Cold
Amstel (not the lite version sold here)
San Miguel
Carlsberg (used to cart the malted barley to the brewery northhampton)
Someones going to mention spirits sooner or later so...
Wild Turkey Rare Breed barrel proof
Russian Standard Vodka Gold or platinum.
Bicardi
and I might even have a Jim Beam if Mila's shouting a round :)

Boundary Road is pretty good, and often offered in Pak'n'Save at a reasonable price. Nice variety and good (drinking at home) strength.
Emersons is similarly competent in taste, but more often available on draught.
Moa has been OK... Not had the one described as being bad. Moa Original seems a safe bet.
Monteiths is nice enough to drink, but is like an 'alcopop' version of real ale.
Speig.... OK. Let's not go there just now.
Best IPA I've (so far) had in NZ is the Good George. Too strong for anything more than sipping one with a meal when riding, but very clean and very tasty.
On a budget but want something that tastes like beer? Lion Brown mixed with Waikato Draught. Don't get excited - it's not great. But it is better than it has any right to be.

At least when you run out you can just top them up with water from a garden hose that's 80m long and been sitting in the sun all day, unlike those suckers that have to go to the booze barn to get more.

That explains the 2 litre cans (nice aluminium screw top can with handle) of Asahi "Karakuchi" beer that Countdown were selling recently.
Little sticker on the cans says "imported by boundary road brewery"

Renaissance 'Elemental' and Tuatara 'Black' are both favourites.
If you're after big hops give the Liberty brews a go - 'Monster' or 'Scarlet'.
Garage Project have some excellent efforts, 'Cockswain's Courage' is brilliant but will set you back a few bob.
Harringtons 'Baltic-Ler' is one of their better ales, or a 'Wobbly Boot'.
If you hadn't guessed already I mostly like my beer black!
Boundary Road are produced by an RTD manufacturer and it shows. Good beer doesn't need extra flavouring.

I still say I need to buy you a beer - not from House anymore though. Bought by a Lion loving group who have removed all the interesting beers and replaced them with the lion stable. At least there is a couple of Emersons on in a pinch.
Little George/Gothenburg/Wonder Horse are all still good beer places though, depending on your mood.
Epic Hop Zombie if you want hops, or for a darker beer I can't recommend Panhead's Black Sabbath enough(a dark, rye, american barleywine). Panhead just make some nice beers full spot, and there are a few good brewers right here in the Waikato that keep pumping out exceptional brews. Overseas beers I do like American double IPA's, Belgian strong ales and tripels and a good English old ale.
