Anyone recognise this tail light assembly?

anyone out there recognise this pre 1981 maybe car maybe bike?????? lense in place but not screwed in?
forget the gear, it's a 1920 henderson reverse gear for all you trainspotters...

I remember those. (I think)... Mid/late 70's batches of custom aftermarket stuff would appear in local bike shops when some importer or somesuch would randomly bring in a batch of tanks or other stuff. I remember seeing lights like that with mustang tanks etc.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Paul in NZ is on the money, I can recall something like that possibly from Emgo or similar company back in the days of Maltese Cross/Tombstone and other custom tail lights. The one shown on this page: http://www.newmotorcycleparts.com/cruiser_stuff/cruiser_lighting/cruiser_taillights.html (8th one down) looks like a slightly revamped/modernised version.

Agree - aftermarket 'chopper' tail light. Pretty sure I've seen similar recently on a net trawl ......
