Just got a cheapie game from Mighty Ape.

Installed it, tried to start it and it says that I have inserted the wrong disc in the drive. Well, hell, it's the same disc I installed the game from.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice more since the first try. Same result.

Any ideas?

Ta.

Assuming this is a PC game?

Try this wot I found on teh interwebs:
Go My PC (or wherever you can see your drives) and with your disc in you should be able to see the discs logo on your CD-DVD drive, right click on it and left click Open, this will open the folders within the disc, from there, run the setup.exe

Otherwise, maybe post back with the game and whether it's PC/XBox etc....

Yeah - PC game.

It installs fine. Just won't play - comes up with "wrong disc" message.

Incidentally, I did install the game in the way you describe. I've had a few that you have to do that with.

I might get in touch with MA. But then the game only cost me about $3.50, so hey what the hell...

Look up the game on google and see if it's a known issue. Others may have found a work around to get it going.

What game is it?

go to your favorite search engine and type "xx game no cd crack" download and install.
Alternatively, use linux like a badass to make an image of the disc and mount it as a virtual drive.
Sounds like shitty game code tho.

Not just installing, but try launching the game off the cd, like, click game.exe, or autoplay.

windows makes me shit.

Is your cd drive not d:\ by any chance? Some cheaper games will not run unless the CD/DVD IS d:\. If you have multiple hard drives for example it may not be.

If so you will need to relabel your drives. Up to you of this is worth the hassle. All depends how many apps and links point to your d:\

This.

Could be a game that doesn't like 64 bit operating systems, presuming you're running one. For example I tried to run a copy of Curse of Monkey Island and I had to download a virtual machine to play it. Pretty annoying but got it going in the end!

no. Theres a folder called x86 for that. Windows sucks at 64 bit. And their compatibility sucks more.
Vmware is excellent.

OS is 32 bit.

MA replaced the game. Same deal with new disks.

The game is "Frontlines Fuel of War." It was only $3.49 to buy...

Get a steam account http://store.steampowered.com/

No more CDs.

Huge "Summer Sale" coming up soon so there will be some very cheap games.

I am guessing your running something newer than XP? Quick google says it doesn't play nicely with anything other than XP.

Right click and choose run as administrator. Sometimes that dodges little quirks. Otherwise you have a virus and you'll need to bring your computer to the boil and then simmer for 4 hours to clear it out :p

Also try running in XP compatibility mode.

Assuming I have found the correct game...
How many discs in your packet, should be more than one from what I read.
You start the game with disc 2 inserted.
And have you patched it, there is a patch available.
