Hey Guys and Girls,

There is now a dedicated club bike in Wellington for anyone interested in having a go.

The club bike will be at the meetings on every 3rd sunday of the month.
Please book it with me a week or two prior to the event.
You will need to already be familar with riding a motorbike. I.e Clutch Control/Gear changing.
We will place you at the back of B-grade and you should be fine.

The Bike is a FXR150 Rolling Frame with a DR125 Engine in it. Its not extremely fast, but should now be capable of mid - to front B grade results. (Slicks/New Carb since last ride)
It is super easy to ride and very friendly (electric start), and now sports some super grippy slick tires.

You will need suitable gear. Which includes the following :
-1 piece or 2 piece zip together leathers
-Road boots (I have seen MX style boots worn, so these are probably okay)
-Suitable leather gloves
-Back protector (you can more than likely borrow one on the day)
-A good quality road Style helmet, no flip tops.

You will have to enter on the day and commit to the full day racing/riding.
The cost of entry is 45$ (if you are a kartsport member it is 35$)
There is no charge for riding it, other than crash expenses (unlikely as its pretty crash proof) and a bit of gas money. (Lets call it a beer afterwards at the cafe ;)).

If you are interested in booking the club bike out for a weekend, my contact details are :

I have checked with fishie and he is okay with this :).

If you want those plates for the foot pegs let me know. They raise by 30mm and back 20mm I think.

Might as well grab them of you, if your not going to use them!

Club bike had its first takers in the pouring rain today!
It ran well and they enjoyed themselves, getting the full experience both crashing out!
:woohoo:

Cheers for the use of your bike(s)! Had a mean time. Give me a yell about what we owe for replacement parts!

Righto, time for an update.

The Club Bike is a little bit too slow and rather average.
So i have brought a 150 kit for it, and will chuck a new carb on it.
Hopefully it might crack the 10hp mark on our dyno.
Will also look at making it slightly better ergonomically, more inline with a normal bucket racer.
Higher footpegs, lower handlebars - that'll be about it, then she will be sweet to hopefully be capable of winning B-grade.
Thus newbies have zero excuses ;).

On more postive news.
The club bike so far has brung new people into our sport. I will keep a tally just for the hell of it.
-Scott Patterson - has brought angus old FXR150 and is now racing.
-Joseph Bailey - has brought a FXR150 and is the final process of getting it race ready.
-Thea Thach - Has now brought a FXR150 the very next day!
-James Calvert - is now on the hunt for a bucket - if anyone knows of one available prefer FXR150. Let us know.

So if anyone of your mates wants to have a go still. Get them to hit me up - it is turning out to be quite a postive way to get people into our sport. There isn't many people who start buckets each year and occasionally people stop, so we need to keep things turning over to maintain good grid sizes :wings:

Thank you's for Donations to Club bike :

-Angus for the FXR frame and wheels.
-Me for buying the engine
-Glen for his labour helping me out :).

Top work.

I built up a club bike sort of thing many many years ago & people came & fell off it (had some nasty tyres). I then embarked on a few mods like wider wheels etc so tyres weren't so grim & it needed a pipe. And then I got carried away & it become the H100 that I decided it was so fun I'd best keep it to ride myself.

Beware too many mods.

And then it got sold a couple of times, I guess Glen took the rest to the tip & kept the engine.

Aha there is the history! And that engine won all 3 races during the weekend!

Nah, this will it. Its just not quite quick enough to be interesting. Preferably i would like it to be capable of winning B-grade. At the moment it is not :nya:. But still serves its purpose :).

For a period the H dominated club racing in Palmerston and Wellington several club champs a 2hr and almost a BOB. Think it had a 3rd and 4th in GP.

Just wanted to thank everyone who was at Kaitoke on Sunday for making us feel welcome!

Special thanks to Kyle and Glen for the loan of bikes and speedy repair when I did eventually drop one!

Thanks everyone and as already mentioned I'm now looking for a fxr150!

Huge thanks to Richard Eltherington for letting us use his old leathers as club leathers.
These are bang on for sizing, as he is about 80kgs and ~5"9. So will fit most people, with a squeeze for bigger guys and a bit baggy for shorter guys.
I also have some good 5"6 leathers for the shorter people.

The bike now has raised footpegs and has clipons ready to get put on. After this will strip the silly fairings and put a number board on.

Could really do with a decent slide carb, if anyone wants to donate or is selling a cheap one.

Hello im building a bucket was going to fit a rg150 front and rear end (modified to take twin shocks) to a cb125 frame with a cg125 engine (for now). An rg150 frame is available, am I wasting my time trying to make cb frame work? Keep in mind I do like a challenge and prefer the look of classic frames cheers gix

Not to be rude but................

I have my opinion on this, and will be happy to share it when you start your own thread on your build in the forum. No need to clutter up this thread with unrelated waffle.

I'm having issues finding a bike to buy for cheap and wondering if anyone wants to point me in the right direction ?

Cheers

Hey Dean,
There's no club bike in wellington at the moment, but if you can make it out to the November round at Kaitoke (Sunday 19th) it's a good way to see what's involved, have a look at what kinds of bikes people are using and how they are prepared, and there's usually people willing to let you have a run on theirs in B grade to give you a go on the track too. That's how myself and a few others made our start in buckets, didn't take long to get fully hooked!
As for finding bikes, have seen a few advertised on here, keep an eye on trademe and if on facebook check out the 'wellington moto4 racers', 'bucket racing auckland' and 'bucket motorcycle racing christchurch' pages, amongst others. Often a lot of parts and bikes listed on these pages before they go on trademe.
Can be a bit of a waiting game to find something suitable, took me a while until i found a cheap de-reg'd FXR150 on trademe that was in reasonable condition and over the last year or so have slowly built it into a solid A-grade bike, but the best i can suggest is coming for a look around the pits at the makes/models of bike people are using to meet the regulations to get a good idea of options to keep an eye out for.

bails is right, rock up to the next round.
This one will actually be a week earlier, I'm about to post a thread to let people know.

Kaitoke rounds are on the 3rd Sunday of each month, except when they aren't like this time.
