So, time for the old WOF to roll around again. Where to get it done? My biggest hangup was: why is a bike's WOF always in the region of double the price of a car's, when they need to check half as many things? Turns out it's a volume thing. It costs quite a lot to be WOF endorsed, and if you aren't doing many, they need to be expensive (perhaps why you're not doing many!).
I used to get it done by VTNZ in Henderson (by the Police station). They dropped my old man's Triumph  and soon after that refused to do anything other than a LAMS and only on certain days. They were $35 from memory.
I have taken bikes to Impact cycles on Bruce McLaren Rd: Nice enough guy, does mods and paint etc, plus WOF. Charges $40
Ebbs Motorcycle on Gt Nth Rd Kelston. Charge $40
Kenlock Motors (Mobil station in Oratia). Friendly as, and honest. They don't sell bike parts, so they won't fail on questionable items "that they stock". It's the closest place for me and at $28, definitely the cheapest for Bike WOF I've ever been. For once, the Cagers subsidise Riders, because far more cars than bikes get done here (at $35 or so each), and Rob and the team at Kenlock Motors have had the wisdom to charge less money for something that takes less of their time. Kudos to them.
Oh, and with the new WOF rules in place, all vehicles post-2000 get 12 months WOF. Finally!
