Potentially up for sale is my little GN250. Her name is Beatrice and whilst only being a little bike she turns a lot of heads. Work done so far is a replacement motor as the old one dropped a valve due to the previous owner being quite reckless. The replacement motor is a japanese spec one from an older GN with 26 k on the clock. The seat is a custom item and I am pretty sure there isn't many like it around in NZ. Its a skyteam ace 150 seat brought over from the UK. The bike is due to receive a new paintjob next week in metallic black with custom airbrushing done on it. Also a spare motor in good condition apart from the clutch being burnt out can be included in the sale along with various other items. Thinking about selling due to having too many toys including a SR20DET MK3 Ford Capri Project that needs funds for new shiny bits.
WOF till next year sometime and rego runs out next month but I will put six months on if sold. Work been done so far is obviously the replacement engine, new spark plug, new oil filter, cleaned out pod filter, used Castrol Semi Synthetic 10w40 oil and tidied up wiring a bit.

Note that the dent in the tank will be professionally pulled out by a dent expert. is there from previous owner dropping something on her. :(
Did I mention the side mounted number plate? :) a lot of custom work gone into this bike by myself and previous owner too to his credit

Interested parties should feel free to contact me on 02102916373.
Price is hella negotiable. I will be realistic. It's no superbike but it is something unique :) so make me offers $2000 plus
Cheers

I guess you are sensing the vibe around the GN. Great bike for a beginner, but most people out grow them really quickly. I only have one to ride, when anything else wont go.:2thumbsup

I have more fun on my GN125, cos it,s got knobblies on it. :headbang::headbang:

A lot of work to do ... to make it worth $2800. New (decent) rubber might be a start ...

Good luck with the sale though.

note my price is hella negotiable, I am more than happy for someone to come knock it down to their preference. I know the rear tyre is a bit iffy hence the negotiable bit, plus the money I am spending to repair the dent in the tank as well as air brush and paint the bike justifies the price in my opinion. It will be worth over 2 grand thats for sure :) hint hint

yeah its got a good vibe about it. I really do like the bike but really need something a little bigger, i thought I could make it work but I was wrong lol. Its fun to ride don't get me wrong but being as heavy as I am it really isn't that comfortable for me to ride it long term. I bought it on a whim if you may and I payed close to what I am asking for it. :) but realistically I know that I am putting money into it that I won't get back but that is fine with me. Why not let someone else enjoy the fruits of my labour.

if you read my last thread you would realise I have stuck a new motor in it! the clutch is not stuffed and neither has the new motor been thrashed. I bought it off an old fella for a considerable amount because I knew for a fact he took care of his shit owning multiple motorcycles so before you try and tarnish my sale get the facts right and stop presuming to know the condition of a motorbike you haven't ridden or worked on personally. the old motor had a fucked clutch and wasn't seized as I first expected the old motor to be seized but it isn't :P so score for the new buyer as the internals are mint.

or you could get a 2004 gn250 with an older model more reliable engine that has ten thousand ams less on the clock than it reads for less than that, not to mention a one of a kind looking one that grabs attention and is a bit more fun to ride than a brand new GN125 ;)

The engine isn't the only part on a bike. You said yourself that you had to replace the engine because the previous owner thrashed the shit out of the bike. The bike is a pile of junk with a fucked clutch, fucked tyres and an idiotic new paint job. It's about $1,500 absolutely TOPS.

i think riding it at top speed and over revving it for a long period of time isn't really thrashing the whole bike is it? new engine means complete new engine, gearbox included. Read the fucking thingo dude, the old engine was thrashed, and a GC new one went in, and you get the old one too.

I dunno why the paint and dent removal are being done after listing; you'd hope it is for mates rates because they won't provide any ROI if being paid for.

Sorry, I forgot that motorcycle engines are completly different to all other four stroke engines, and their reasons for smoking are very complex and impossible to diagnose, even for the most advanced mechanical engineer such as yourself.

The frame mods require no certification according to a testing officer at VTNZ as the tail end that has been chopped does not affect the strength and integrity of the frame itself. Also the clutch has not burnt ousot on the second motor at all, its the first motor that the clutch has burnt out on as I thought it seized for some th reason thenni realized it may be some thing to do with the formula of the oil and its friction modifiers that may have something to do with the clutch burning out on the old motor. I trialed run the same oil in the second motor but only rode it a short distance. Maybe a hundred metres or so. It started smoking just as I got back and was pretty bad so I drained the oil and checked if there were any filings in the oil itself and none were found. I opened up the cover on the old one and saw that the clutch was severely worn. Then opened up the covers on the second motor which is currently in the bike to see if the same damage was evident but it looked almost new. To answer all questions as best as I can there is no daamage to the second motor. Those who are sceptical feel free to inspect for yourselves

If you had "realized" the friction modifiers might have been the cause previously ... why did you "Trial" the same oil in the new engine. THEN ... look for a different cause to the problem .. ??

Slow learner .. ??

Looks can be deceiving ...

Could you not see the Friction modifiers impregnated in the clutch plates ... ???

To cut the story short ... the clutch plates WILL need replacing ...

I bought an '04 GN with 1400km on the clock in '05 for $2300, still under warranty with the first major service included, from a 'zuki dealer.
I got my current one for $600. And it must be worth millions, having a fresh built DR600 motor in it, CRF swingarm, ZX6 shock, GS tank and some actual custom mods. Or it's some shit heap I strangely love way too much and isn't worth the oil it gets in it?

You can buy my Bandit for $2500 (cheaper to KB cunts I like) which now makes me feel like less of a prick trying to sell it.

NOT hacking the arse end off in the first place might be better advice ... unless you actually know what you're doing (which the OP seems incapable of knowing)

Never mind arse ends, let's talk about some airbags instead...

Not a certified welder. It must be done and signed off by someone deemed competent.

I love how you would assume I am not a certified welder? Lol I will have you know I served an apprenticeship as a marine engineer specialising in light and heavy fabrication at VT fitzroy down at the Devonport Naval Docks several years ago and was one of the only apprentices at the time to hold all my welding tickets for mma mig and tig welding further more add underwater welding to that because that was my field. To add to that I still attend my tefresher courses to hold my welding tickets and they as of today expire only in 2016. Sometimes it pays to ask questions before making assumptions. It makes you look a little less informed that way

Settle down angry child, no one assumed anything. It has to be certified, particularly if welding is involved. If welding is involved it needs to be certified as being done by someone competent.

By the way if your welding background is anything like your mechanics background, you'd do well to stay far away from the MIG torch there.

The welding needs to be signed by a competent welder, the person signing off does not need to be a certified welder.

As for forcing poor standards of work on thr public I highly disagree. As a south african I highly take pride in mybwork and as black man I strive to do things better than expected. I asked myself the same question after owning this thing for a while now. Couple of months in reality. I simply bought it like this. I really dont like the quality of the modifications hence I will get them up to standard. The paint job is a must. The rattle can satin black on the tank is quite appalling and the only thing I do like is the custom seat. Riding it is great though as it gets looks and comments from females but in comparison to the cbr250rr I had its so slow and too small. Its still a fun ride.whims sometimes can be dangerous

The w211e63 was having gearbox issues. It wasnt shifting as it should of from 1st to second. Before they brought it in the battery had died and they replaced it with another. Turns out this caused some errors in the ecu. All I had to do was scan and reset the transmission ecu and recode the key. Came in a couple times after that for rotors and pads. The guy also brought his ml63 in for rotors and fml they are like 330mm up the fronts. Huge really

Oh the e65 740i. Its got leaks from the timing chain covers and rocker covers. They have those independent spark plug tubes which are a pain in the ass and the vanos sensors sit right a top the rocker covers. Beautiful cars though. This one is real nice to drive and was imported from England by a doctor who bought it brand new there. Its got all the bells and whistles. The only thing that bugs me about it is the run flat sensors are extremely sensitive. Harsh bumps on the road set them off and give false readings. Ive had several come in with the same issue. I've also got an e85 in the shop at the moment (2006 z4) unusual waterpump failure. The waterpump runs off the lower part of the engine block and bmw swears they haven't had one come in for a waterpump before. Its only doing 50k and is highly unusual

Lovely motors those N62s, very smooth. Timing chain cover leaks should be piss easy to sort though, but a wee bit time consuming as always with the modern stuff. Are you meaning the VANOS solenoid? Fun little things
The failed water pump, I am assuming it's an N52 series motor? If so, it is becoming a fairly common problem. BMW NZ are dicks, don't bother dealing with them. '05 was the change over year for M52 to N52 in them, and early N52 are having a fair few issues. The M52 have often had water pump issues too, but mainly the earlier E36s and E39s with the plastic pumps.

Yes the vanos solenoids. They do my head in because even when you remove the four allen key head bolts that are supposed to loosen them they are still tighter than a nun lol time consuming is correct. Especially that particular day. I was flat out busy with that beemer and had that n52 come in also. Yeah those plastic pumps are a shocker in the older m52s. Ive got a m52tub28 in my 328 coupe and its been non problematic the past year. I generally tend to stick to the e46s. I would love to get an e46 330ci and supercharge it. Ive seen one tidy example only and man did it blow my mind. Rare in manual too. And agreed. Bmw NZ are dicks. My mate works at jerry clayton on the shore and even says the same thing lol

I'm more of an e30 and e36 chap, when it comes to small ones anyway (I'm more E12, 28 and 21 inclined these days though). Always felt the E46 onwards were a bit less "pure". Mush better cars in general though

Yeah I guess so. But that lovely whine of a blower spooling is wouldn't be there in the m3. Did you have an e12? Was it an alpina version? They were nice to drive. I remember my old man bringing one home in south africa and me loving the speed it had. Jeez. Cant fault the e30s though. Mine wasn't an Alpina unfortunately/
Our 325iS over here were just the m20b25, no 2.7s. We got the 2.7 in the E28 525ee though and they were fuckin' gutless. I may be building a stroker B25 soon though, but am undecided on B27 or M52 crank yet, depending on the customers budget really. I had a SA imported E34 535 a few years ago, was a nice car apart from the ungodly ability to empty the 90L tank :nono:

You sir speak my language. Stroked b25s have really good performance. The SA 2.7 is was a rocket. They became quite popular among criminals back home as getaway cars due to their impressive performance. Unfortunately this led to them being burned after a crime was committed and now they have decreased significantly in numbers there. I love going on holiday back to SA purely cos you can sit at 240 plus with no cop trouble. Last trip was a year ago and I had the pleasure of driving a family members cl63 amg which had been chipped so the 250 kph speed limiter was removed. Gosh that trip from Johannesburg to pietermaritzburg was a blast. the 535s huge tank was no match for its thirst

Im putting the sr20det in the capri because its purely for drag/track purposes. The car with the engine and a full tank of petrol will be around the 900 kg mark. That accompanied by 350-380 horses equals a whole lot of fun. With a v8 it makes it heavier and its been done too much. Theres not many sr20det capris around but tonnes of v8 ones. Besides turbocharged jap engines are beautiful and in all honesty the car is going to be kept for a long time. I wouldnt sell her.

That's as bad as the guy around the corner that put a toyota engine into a Mk2 cortina and reduced it's value by $5k

IKR. Pointless. Chuck the motor in some ricer.

Back in the old days we did a 302 into a Mk2. When you punched it the back window would pop out. So we put extra brackets on the louvers to hold it in. :shifty:

Why not 5 link with a Watts linkage? Well proven combination. And you can run XR4i Sierra disk rear on them too, so solves the ol' 9 inch drum issue. Turret the rear, kits are cheap. Nice wee Quaiffe center and she'll be well sorted and fairly cheap.
Then a set of group 4 front struts (brace 'em by the stub axle)

Have a few pics of her. Shes still got the old 2 litre pinto in at the moment but the sr20dets ready to go in as its freshly built. Going to run a g4 link as well. i really just want to run mostly nissan parts because of the ease of obtaining them verses ford stuff. They can be a pain in the ass. Did a 400 big block rebuild on a mk5 cortina. High power rebuild, race cam and higher comp pistons worked a treat. Lucky the tunnel was already cut and stuff. But ill upload some pics at work tomorrow of the capri. Bodys been painted 3 stage pearl white already. The cars been sitting for a year now. Really need to find time to work on it. Also got an s10 blazer which is registered. Left hand deive and borg warner five speee manual. Sucks that its v6 but got a turbo 327 from an old impala for it :D

My 2 door one I got for a steal of my old man's mate who was going to aussie back in the day. now the prices are ridiculous. come to think of it I only paid 1500 for it and now it must be worth a shitload. it had a 2 litre pinto in it. also if anyone else is keen I've got a twin dellorto set up for a 2 litre pinto with quad anodized trumpets in red for sale. My mate had one of those for a his first car about 10 years ago. Tidy as and had an 1800? (Sport? Don't know much aboot Fords) motor in it.
Was a heap. You could have thrown a couple of buckets in there and used it as a mobile ultrasonic, and that's when it was not running like a bag of shit and needing adjustment on something every five minutes.
Cool looking car and we had some good, slow, road trips in it, but it's not something he regrets selling (to another mate who sold it to an older dude on the side of the road 3 weeks later for an offer he couldn't turn down).

Another friend has one now that he's working on, but I'd probably be pelted with bricks if I told you what kind of jappa motor was going in that :sweatdrop Each to their own eh.

There used to be one came up to kumeu show every year I went.
Either a light chocolate or a golden brown. Sparkled in the right light. Looked stock overcast or dark.
Only giveaway at first glance was the leather rally style bucket seats. Almost a Recaro. And dual exhausts, mustang gt style.
Look underneath and it's a different story. All updated suspension. Wider back wheels but the axles trimmed so they lined up with the front.
Giving the appearance they were stock. Can't remember spec but a gorgeous V8 under the hood. Might have had a side mounted supercharger or I might be mixing up a couple of cars.

Sounded really passive and commuter until the magic number revs wise then it was all dragon.
Owner seemed to get a kick out of people wondering what was so special and seemed to delight in telling how most green light jockeys get the fright o their lives.

Last went to kumeu show in 08.

Had to reconstruct the drivers side guard so 35% is my handywork, also plated and repaired a lot of rust in the rear section as well plated where the previous owner had bogged to shave the rear bumpers. Good cheap commuter though. And comfy.

It's Korean, which is a bit better. I think lol
Got a heap of bits coming for it now, and it's seriously cheap to buy bits for them! Should be a real tidy example when I am finished with it and should handle much nicer too if I can fit a rear shock in there that actually works.

In all honesty korean vehicle manufacturers have upped their quality standards a lot recently

Your knowledge of motorcycle manufacture origin astounds me .... it may lead to some believing that you have NO idea what you're talking about ... :blank:

Not ideal for one attempting to SELL a motorcycle .. :weird:

Cheers
