View Full Version : What do you wear on sunny days??
Zed
23rd January 2004, 15:36
This last summer, especially over the Christmas holiday period, I noticed heaps of bikes on the road. What shocked me was the amount of riders wearing little or no protection- some Kiwi's wear the ole t-shirt and jandals if you know what I mean!!
If you are one of these guilty ones- do you really think that your "skills" are going to prevent you from coming off 2nd best in an accident. Come on dude/dudess, you can be the best rider in NZ and still get taken out by some foreigner who doesn't know his left hand from his right.
I say to those who wear little or no protection on bikes- WAKE UP, you are living in a dream world and need to wake up to the reality that protective wear is your insurance policy against injuries that could effect you for the rest of your life! :Pokey:

You're a troll because you register on a motorcycle discussion forum and immediately proceed to start new threads about (a) brand and manufacturer elitism and (b) lack of protective gear, both of which are classic and thrashed-to-death troll-bait topics on just about any bike forum on the web or USENET.
Your following today's performance up with a few weeks' worth of considered and original posts will disprove my assertion.

Dude!! Aren’t they going to get done for child pornography? Cause there are some very young girls and boys naked in that site.
It might as well be a porn site, its got titties and asses everywhere. Not that I am complaining. :D
You have to wonder though. If you are a nudist, doesn't that take away all the fun about the mysteries of the opposite sex? It’s like having all your Christmas presents in transparent boxes. I reckon half the fun is in thinking about the unknown

Dude!! Aren’t they going to get done for child pornography?
I think actual nudists would rather object to your equalising photographs of people out of their clothes with pornography, although to the pubescent male mindset, any titties are good titties, I suppose :p
Who was it who, when asked to define pornography, said "I'll recognise it when I see it"?
Anyway. Getting a bit :Offtopic:

Plus - there are plenty of people on here who could absolutely destroy you on a smaller capacity bike. CUE : ANDY

What is it with some of the longer served residents on this site having a pop at someone that posts a topis for discussion that may have already been covered before?
First of all by discussing topics again new members get a chance to air their respective views, opportunities they obviously haven't had a chance to discuss in the past with like-minded people. Secondly, new opinions may be aired that may actually broaden some of the longer served members knowledge base and understanding of mbike issues (but I get a feeling one or two here wouldn’t dare admit it), and thirdly there will come a time when the number of topics we are allowed to post before being chastised by other members for failing to be original would result in posts such as "which flavour crisps are best served with beer" etc etc.
That is of course that there is a finite time limit on the amount of time that must pass before anybody is allowed to post a previously discussed subject.
Ok - so we all know that riding in flip flops and shorts is daft. But maybe someone may know of some Kevlar plated flip flops that may have just been developed.
By the way - the answer is salt and vinegar.

What is it with some of the longer served residents on this site having a pop at someone that posts a topis for discussion that may have already been covered before
I wouldnt exactly consider myself a long serving resident, but it does get annoying when there is the same old shit posted by new members who havent bothered to learn how to use the search function...
Sure it is great that the views get refreshed every now and again, and that the new threads arent prohibitively long, but if you want to go back and find some information on say, peoples views on leather/textiles, there will be heaps of threads saying the same thing over and over again, taking up webspace, costing $$$ and eventually slowing the website down.
It might not be too much of a problem now, but with the rate that the site was (is?) growing at, it may well be soon.
Maybe it is just me getting carried away on a fledgling hobby horse, but it pisses me off when people cant be bothered looking for the information themselves in any situation... Too much asking and being told leads to an ingrained way of finding information which isnt necessarily the best to follow. In uni, being able to sort/sift through texts and extract the relevant info is a priceless skill, and it amazes me when I see the number of people who cant see the infromation in the book in their hands, but if you state verbatum what the book states, suddenly they understand...

For what it is worth, I have two sets of kit, one for cold and the other for warmer weather (following the unfortunate incident when I started cooking inside my kit! Look here for the full, unfortunate tale. (http://www.bobpickett.co.uk/bkit/ridinginheat.htm) )
The warm weather stuff is Hood jeans (similar to Draggin), a fairly light Rayven jacket (though I want to see if I can get a really light jacket at the bike show at Alexandra Palace at the end of the month). Same lid, gloves and boots (Arai RV, Hein Gericke Psyko and Bering Duke II respectively).
Cold weather stuff - substitute waterproof, cold-proof (the removable ally lining is amazingly good) trousers and jacket from Bering.
OK, I may get caught out in the rain now and again in the rather leaky Summer jacket, but at least I don't cook this way!

members for failing to be original would result in posts such as "which flavour crisps are best served with beer" etc etc.
That is of course that there is a finite time limit on the amount of time that must pass before anybody is allowed to post a previously discussed subject.
By the way - the answer is salt and vinegar.
Oh yes! I'm with the salt'n'vinegar!! :niceone:

Me too, Shaun was far sexier - erm - not that I'm gay mind you. No, hang on.....just checking.......no that's right I'm not, it's my mate Terry that is. But I haven't told him yet, I need to break it too him gently, him being married for 20 years with two kids, it won't be easy. Not that he shows any signs though. But I've got a built in GAYDAR. I know these things. It's uncanny really. Just like the way I find it so easy to waffle on about all kinds of crap. I'm a natural. What can I say? Well lot's really, except that this paragraph is now far too long and I'm running the risk of boring myself. Oh well, another day another dollar. I guess I'd better do some work. Possibly, maybe, sometime soon. Or then again maybe I won't.
Weren't the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy a brilliant series of books, as was the radio show. I wasn't overly impressed with the TV programme though. Besides, my aunt Edna has ingrown toe nails. She finds it awfully difficult making it down to the shops to pick up here weekly supply of blue cod.
Hmmmm - I'm bored. (no shit Sherlock). As bored as a dolphin in a basket of doughnuts as somebody probably said once in a pub. Where are my bloody tablets?

Perhaps it's because I've read the books well before I saw the movies and both Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan play the character far closer to how he appears in print as a slightly upper class Pommie Bastard ,which is something Sean could never do..

On sunny days, I wear a G-string and some sunnies.
Let's hope that does it.
Nausea overtaking body, mental images, argh, who can fix this evil bestowed upon me with the wroth of Vifferman and his G string :thud:
