I meant to ask what are peoples other recommendations for GoPro style cameras.
And I mean at least as good as if not better (gopro still has some technical quality issues)...

I've just brought me a Sony HDR-AS100VR I'm quite happy with so far.

After a LONG period of research (while I got the funds together) my reasons for choosing were -
IMO better low light performance
Lower profile for the places I'd be placing it
Sony's well known for quality cameras
IMO I thought the Sony looked better overall than the GoPro,tho the GoPro did do a better job under water (not my interest & this was against the HDR-AS30; I think they've improved it with a selectable underwater mode in the HDR-AS100V)
The Sony has SteadyShot image stabilisation
The Sony is splashproof outside of it's waterproof case
The Sony is cheaper
