Guy Martin has crossed the Atlantic with this purposeful looking turbo Suzuki.

That looks mean. I though the Peak was a mix of sealed and unsealed roads. If it still is, clip-ons! :innocent:

It used to be fully unsealed, within the past few years it has become fully sealed now. Still love the videos of Monster Tujima (spl?) caning the escudo up there

That was last year when he decided to start working in forestry

If it has a 1000cc motor in it then it's an F1

Not according to the west coast USA rules! They group all sidecars into one class and almost all run liter motors.

The east coast sidecar guys tend to be closer to the established FIM and CMRC or HMRA rules.

Also - At Pike's Peak, there are very few sidecar rules; three wheels and no super/turbo charging. I've often thought a F2 with a 'Busa race motor, 10" rear tire, etc would be the ticket.

There's one that was racing here like that until a crash and now it is awaiting a rebuild, personally I think the Busa motor is to big and heavy compared to the GSXR1000 engines

F1 here is short or long bikes up to 1300cc and F1 was always short bikes up until the 1980s

Pity Johnny couldn't make it to Pikes peak this year

For anyone interested in how Guy Martin got on with his turbo bike at Pikes Peak and has access to MCN either in paper or electronically there is a story in the latest issue.
I note that the power of his bike is rather more modest than what he was aiming for originally. Perhaps he wanted to get all the way up the hill?

IIRC last year there was some odd ruling about ICE superbikes and sportsbikes. Essentially they could not enter an official class so had to enter the open or ride-what-ya-got class? The official class was basically the multistrada class plus electric? Something about safety, not wanting to turn into another Isle of Man TT?

It doesn't look as though that was the case this year?

I read the interview in the latest MCN, apparently he fronted and they said, "We'll find you a class."
He won the class (only five entries IIRC) but in the interview he says the ECU was stuffing up and he couldn't do much over 5000 RPM.

He was only working on the bike in a vague and unhurried way until the TV people said it was all go for this year. Then he shifted to fast forward.
His efforts were filmed as part of another TV series.

the rules for the bike and sidecar classes prohibit blowers and chargers which automatically put him into an unlimited or exhibition class. I'm sure that they bent over backwards to make sure he could race. Nothing like having a superstar in the field!
