Was at the end of Miners Bank rd about a month ago and was still locked up, has been that way for at least a year now so I would be reasonably certain it will still be blocked off
You need to go west up old west coast rd one more road to the end of Weedons Ross Rd to access tracks

Haven't been up there for a while, what's the track like at the end of WR road going up river, can you still make it to the intake ?

I used to ride with a large group in this area in the late 70s. Them were fun days. Can't remember fences. can't remember any gates. Can't remember locks. So has it changed much?

we have been out to weedons Ross rd end,and The willows rd end in the last couple of weeks,and the the tracks are good and you can ride . to intake rd if you want.Parts of the forest at Weedons Ross rd end are being felled at the moment so access is limited to the main forest rds.

lol sure has. i just ride the main tracks from old waimak bridge to gorge bridge then back the down the south side and end up at the yaldy. in the last 4 or 5 years i have lost the start and end of my ride

Latest email update talked more about the north Bank Track area being closed for a few months while they do work.



Good afternoon Trail bikers,

We have been lucky, due to a few delays with the construction of the river protection works at Kaiapoi Island Motor Cross Park, we have managed to get a few more weekends of use squeezed in. However our luck has run out.

This is to notify you that the River Protect works will be starting on MONDAY 29th SEPTEMBER 2014 we have one more weekend available to us before it is closed for 3 months. Fingers crossed the weather is good for you, so you can make the most of it.

We will be giving regular updates on our parks website and Facebook page, with the latter including construction and progress photos, so keep an eye on both pages to see the progress

Ecan FB post from Sept 10th says South Bank open...


Trail Bike Track between Miners Bank Road and Weedons Ross Road (South Bank Waimakariri):
There has been a significant washout on a section of track. The river bank is being repaired before the trail bike track is reinstated. Estimated timeframe is 3 weeks starting Thursday 11 September 2014. A diversion will be in place for the duration of the works, please follow all signage.
