Anyone know where I can get an cnc machined lever set for a kle500 in NZ? It seems to be an orphan and the local shop can't source one only the die cast cheese stock ones.

There is a couple of options listed on trademe but the list a whole bunch of compatable bikes, that the interweb tells me are not compatible. So I suspect it won't fit correctly.

Cheers
Richard

Perhaps word it the same way....

Maybe the mods can get rid of this.....and send it to the rightful place?

Sorry, I thought it was a forum about Adventure/Dual purpose bikes....... clearly I misunderstand the title.

Care to point me to where I should ask questions about my Dual Purpose bike without being a twat?

that is pretty much where I've started, but would really like something a bit stronger. I only just touched the wall of my storage container getting it out and it broke.

Are OEM levers no longer available? Original stuff is usually ok I thought... or are they the ones to cheesy that you don't want.
With decent handguards (I'm a fan of the original Barkbuster brand) incorporating the alloy backbone and two fixed ends I would have thought it almost impossible to be knocking your levers against any garage wall.
Also stick some teflon plumbers tape under the mounts so that they can pivot if they do get a knock and it's better to break a lever than the mount/perch which can involve a more expensive replacement if the right side one goes as it usually includes the front brake master cylinder.

This kind of thing.... link to picture probably to big for KB. Good luck, hope to see you out on the dirt roads sometime.

They are still avaliable and I have one, but they are expensive and rubbish.

I've found a list of bikes that use the same part number now, so it should be alot easier to find the parts I need.

got to wonder why that never came up in a google search, they are listed on the site.

I'll drop him an email when I've got some hand guards fitted, breaking an $85 lever annoyed me, breaking a $300 would cause a serious sense of humour failure.

Hell no, don't think I'd want to use a $300 lever even with handguards on an ADV bike.

Bit more motivation to stay upright. But yes, certainly something for consideration.

I've switched from a rego'd dirt bike, to a adv bike and getting out a bit further from home so there is a bit of a learning curve going on at the moment about what sort of stuff breaks, and what it costs to replace. Certainly a little different to the $14 levers on the old steed that I never managed to damage.

Yeah, but at the price you can afford to have a spare set in the tool roll. Its also worth filing a small groove in the lever so in the event of an off, it snaps the lever rather then breaking the mount perch.

Yeah, l swear buy BARKBUSTERS too.
A $2 break lever will then keep braking forever ! :-))
