Hi all, new to the KB forums but after 20 odd years I have finally got myself another scoot:niceone: I have bought a 2007 FXDWG with 13,000 miles from Action Sports Direct here in Mount Maunganui for 18k. So stoked with the quality and immaculate condition of the bike. Also their full service, new WOF, 3 months money back warranty, 6 months rego and heavily discounted helmets and gloves!!! big ups to Action Sports Direct. Definitely recommend to future buyers.
Any way that is not all. The bike is stock standard 1584 injected but with added Screamin Eagle slip on mufflers. Goes pretty good compared to my old '88 Softail.
However after doing some research on the net and speaking with different workshops around the region about after market performance fuel managers/tuners and ecm upgrades etc. I spoke to Peter from Superchips NZ at 0800 89 CHIPS (24477) and they have just brought in a limited number of the Superchips Vigilante EZ Tuner. This unit has been around in the USA for about 3 years and has won a "best product" award at the 2011 Michigan bike show.
Installation was super easy. Purchase the product, download the "spark" program from superchips USA website, plug in the USB cable from the handheld device to your computer and update the tuner. Then plug it into your 4 pin or 6 pin plug from your ECM, choose the hardware ( intake & exhaust system) then calibrate.
Very Easy!!! Took about 5 min to self tune my bike.
The results were instant:cool:
Better throttle response
Smoother throttle control and power delivery across the whole range
No deceleration 'popping'
runs leaner therefore engine is running cooler
more fuel economy
idles at lower revs and sounds more like a thumper!!
I can return the tune back to stock at any stage if I am not happy........but why would I?
I honestly cannot believe how easy this tuner was to use. I would recommend it in a heartbeat. I think Peter has them for about $475 which is cheaper than the equivalent Power Commander V or the Screamin Eagle Super Tuner.
Well worth it and check out their website and you tube clips
Cheers
Kane
