Hello to everybody,
it has been a long time since I last visited this forum. This will change.
My trip comes nearer every day. Starting with the 1. of January 2015 I will be in New Zealand for three months.
The flight is already booked. Bike shipping is working out. Hell, I am so excited!

The next thing, I need an advice on a decent accomodation in Auckland while getting the bike out of customs. I reckon a week or so will be enough.
Any recommendations an that?

Cheers

A German going through French customs was asked : occupation?

to which he replied:

No, just a holiday this time...

If you get stuck, we have a guest room and could put you up. One of my sons-in-law is from Germany and while not a biker, he'd be happy to meet with another from there. He seems to know most of the German businessmen in NZ now! What's your occupation over there? Rudy runs three companies, plumbing, websites/IT and a couple of forums.

Thanks to everybody's replies.
@awayatc: That's a good one. But we had France. Now it's time for New Zealand:).
@Edbear: Thanks for your offer. I'll keep you informed how things are going. While you asked about my occupation, I am an IT professional working in a hospital (http://www.ukw.de/en/welcome-page.html) responsable for servers. And while I told everybody that I am going to New Zealand I joked around that I might get a great job offer and resides in New Zealand. One may never know:).

How to organize a successful big happening in Europe.......?

Get the French to do the catering,
The Poms to do comedy and entertainment
and the Germans to do security.......

How to turn that same happening into disaster......?

Get the French to do security,
The poms to do the catering,
and the Germans to do comedy and entertainment..........

Oh.....

enjoy your holiday.....

I know:). But theres a difference:
1. I have a real name (no DOTCOM or anything else),
2. I would do serious business, not like him.

It's true, Germans have no sense of humour.

Have fun mate! You can't go far wrong North of Auckland or in the Coromandel, check out as many of the coastal backroads as you can. Get in touch if you want to meet up for a ride &/or a beer when you hit Rotorua, can give you a few pointers on places to go during the rest of your trip.

Not true, I know a few funny Germans. Actually maybe that's why they are here, got kicked out for too much hilarity
