Hey all,

Think I've found my new bike, Kawasaki ZXR 400cc, was looking at the ZX9R at one point, but after riding the 400cc I realise that my skill just isn't that good yet, so will take the smaller model for at least 6 months until I get to grips with things, anyways, looking at paying around $7k for it.

Is this a fair price for that kinda bike, seems in good condition.

Any advice when buying it, getting it from a dealer with finance, so not sure how much I can barter, but thinking of getting a helmet and jacket for my pillion so how much of a discount should I expect?

Any advice for a newbie biker would be great, ta.

bit costly i got my 1990 zxr400 for about $3900 and it had after market pipe , scottoiler and a few other goodies. nice bikes if the suspension is set up right.

That is ridiculously expensive, even from a dealer. What shop is it in? How many kms? If it is 20-30ks, L3+ model, I would think 5500 from a dealer, 4500 private.

what year is the ZXR

have you considered something like a banana arm rgv 250, nice n light, good handling from about 92? onwards, most of the ones ive ridden have about the same power as my old gixxer 400rr, but fell lighter and a bit more nimble

7K is alot of money for a dirty old 400, get you're self a tidy 600, maybe an early R6, or maybe a GSXR SRAD. You'll get better brakes, handling, performance, etc.

Really most decent 400's are cheaper than 250's, $7K is crazy money, keep looking mate, 400's are fuckin cool bikes, but you can get mint ones for well less than $4000.
