I need a new rear shock for my RGV 250 bucket build. There are a lot of cheap good 600 shocks on tardme. Will they work ok or will they be too heavily sprung? Could I just chuck a new spring on and have good results? Any other suggestions?

What skunk said.

What Year RGV? I only know it works on a VJ21.

You'll need to also add a couple washers behind the dog bones and space the top shock mount out from the chassis 8mm. It'll add a head of ride height in the rear but it is an awesome shock for that chassis and the spring works out sweet.

Thanks for the advice. It's a VJ22. The front fork rake has been sharpended by 2 degrees, would raising the ride height affect the handling adversely?

Tim is runnning an R6 shock on the back of his TZR250 1KT frame and reckoned the difference first time out was very obvious. Spring rate works very well on what is a light chassis with a light rider. I am reading up on a GSXR250RR (GJ73) race bike build in Aussie as I have just come across a GJ73a chassis for not much $$$ (I wasn't looking, it found me.....) and apparently a CBR600RR shock works well - Nick
