Tougher sentence than she would have gotten here by an order of magnitude.

But jail is obviously an order of magnitude less onerous there...

"She was jailed for seven years and banned from driving for two."

That would so suck not being able to drive around the prison yard with ya homies during exercise break...

She went wrong when she said it was a Badger she hit. Now if she'd said she thought she ran over a black rubbish bag in the fog like that high court judges Wife near Hamilton/Cambridge awhile back...

Sentence seems about same as what you would get here, taking into account that she failed to stop at scene to render help also.
A logging truck driver that fell asleep near Tauranga got four years for killing a cyclist.

And booze somewhat stronger

"A breathalyser found 85 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of her breath."

"One drink is one drink too many, as the family of Mr Novak will testify to."

Thing that got me most was that she drove five miles with the car in that condition.
Lucky no one else was hurt.

Rubbish. The fella that left me on the side of the road with a broken neck and back got a 3 month disqualification. The drunk who ran my brother-in-law over on the footpath and left him lying there with internal bleeding got counselling.

there was a little old lady in Unzud that was basically let off for doing the same thing a couple of years ago. Bear with while I try and find the sauce.

A neighbour of ours, who was a journo on one of the red-tops drove pissed and lost the front right wheel off his Sierra (it was new, which shows how long ago we're talking) when he tangled with an artic getting off the M11. Drove another 8 miles on three wheels to get home.
