The Date has been set for this years Battle of the Buckets

18th October

B track Ruapuna

Same format as 2012 hosted by Cams Club

No one ever complains about not enough racing on the day , few man up and enter every race available.

Bring whatever bikes you have to maximise your racing day, pre 63, 72, 82, 89, rg150's, ninjas, farm bikes, anything so long as it complies with normal racing rules.

I have a few spare bikes so if you need a bike PM me and ill think about it. Last year TZ350 rode a RG and had a great day.

Look forward to a few Norfies,

On the must do list in this Parish. Some of it depends on having a job + having a bike as I'm in total rebuild development of the MB.

better have my spare bike on hand this time.

I don't like your chances on that, track is locked up at night, there plenty of other places you can park , you don't need to be first there in the morning.
The Cams club who are running the meeting are pretty good at pushing the rounds through so nobody misses out

Working towards three GPR boys, we are going to have to impose on someone perhaps for accommodation again though! Thoughts are to spend two nights in Christchurch, and then look to head to Greymouth, but that will just evolve as we work it through.

Just doing our costings at the moment, it is a work in progress (bit like my barrel)!

CAMS is also holding the F4 cup in the last bucket race of the day for any bikes left that make it though the BOB.

Sign in 8-9.00am
Riders breifing 9.15am
Practice from 9.30am
Few beers in the new CAMS outdoor area at the B track after racing 4.00pm.

All the usual Post Classic and Classic classes + junior clubmans, senior clubmans and moderns.

We will need some help re qualifying/grid positions for the BOB and also handicapping the F4 cup.

If people want to camp at the track I can ask the track manager ?
But as above you would be locked in (they have security cameras so those late night naked runs around the track will be on facetube the next day )

Cheers

That's a shame Skunk. My plans are very immature barr booking accommodation with the mighty Tony to suffer my presence for like the hundredth time.

Will Daves bike be ready for Taupo, how many spare bike will we need?

Will the GPR bikes go the distance, will lunch stay inside the riders this year?

Will I run out of air?

Is this the year of the pig, will the 2 stroke slay the tractors.

Will the superheavyweights win a title.

Well thats the 2014 Battle of the Buckets done and dusted.
A great turnout for the Premier event with plenty of supporting classes for other Cams members.
The Cams club run a pretty slick affair, that has the classes rolling out with the minimum fuss.

There was a sea of buckets on the grid for the Inaugral F4 cup, a blingy new trophy was up for grabs and was hard fought over , only to be taken away by F4 Dave from Wellington.

12 oclock and time for the big race, what can I say its big and long, takes no prisoners and preys on the weak (crankshafts), there was little doubt from the get go who was in charge Lewis Dray pretty much ledthe whole race fron the front, followed by Hank Randle and Mr Bucketracer .A few retirements took out a couple of leaders. Eventually and not before time the race finished and we struggled on to a few additional races.

Prizegiving was held in the new facility provided by the Cams club, a few Beers from Harringtons Brewery, then home to suffer a few aches and pains, cant wait to do it over next year.

Thanks to The Cams club for hosting our event, the out of town riders who made the comittment to attend, st Johns who had nothing to do all day, Harringtons Brewery.

1st Lewis Dray, 2nd Hank Randle, 3rd Scott Griffiths , 4th No199 (sorry no name), 5th Mike Stein 6th Brendan Booth, 7th Andy Jamison, thats it i cant count over 7

Ok here we go. First practice, about third lap into the hairpin and it locked up. Quite dramatically crossed up glad to stay on. Started up again so back to pits. Bigger main clean pilot. Happens again when I sneak out in pre89. Although it is eligible. Found a drilled out pilot and that seemed to sort it but I was hesitant in the hairpin for well into the BOB.

So with sod all practice and some trepidation I line up for the first race which is for the CAMs F4 cup. I would like to say I ran away and hid, but I could hardly string a good lap together. Diesil and then Lewis passed me at different times but I managed to somehow get my life together enough to get back and stay in front for the win.

The BOB I lead for several laps and it became evident that Hank and Lewis were stringing together better laps together so I waved them through on the straight. It's a long race and I intended to get a riding lesson. More later.

F5 Dave
19th October 2014, 18:59
But then Diesel slipt through too. I followed for a while but the others were making a break so I had to get past. I did and gapped, but lost too much distance on the front two to learn anything. I. Found some new lines but couldn't gain anything. I did think I was staying a constant distance. Sadly about 30min it went clatter and my crank broke its pin like last year. But I did have enough speed to coast over the hill so it was a short push.

Mission accomplished.

With More practice I would have been in the hunt but Lewis deserved the win and seems like a thouroughly good young lad.

Bike goes in the lock up. It can wait.

How the hell did AJ come 7th!?!?!

rode the wheels off the FXR.
the only mod i have done to it was an old XRb250 Carb, got it in the mail, bolted it on (karen asked if i should pull it apart and clean it... pfff only people who care if they win do that)
started it and it went... FAST..
oh and new (2nd hand) slick on the front. and 10kgs of weight lost over the last month..

was a great race. didn't even see the white flag, let brendan booth past as i thought he was lapping me... then he didn't get away, so i over took him..then he over took me.. then i over took him.. then i stuff up a corner and he went past.. then i saw the checkered flag... bugger.. could have caught Mike stien if i had known...

thanks to all the organizers, sorry i didn't stay for PG but i had to fly .!

Great racing from all and obviously very proud to see Lewis take out the win...seems a long time ago
