this scammer has targeted others in NZ - his third email pasted below -

I insisted on paypal because i don't have access to mybank account online as i don't have internet banking and i can't go to the bankdue to the nature of my job, but i can pay from my paypal account, as i have mybank a/c attached to it, i will need you to give me your paypal email addressso i can make the payments asap for the vehicle and pls if you don't havepaypal account yet, it is very easy to set up, go to www.paypal.com and get it set up , after youhave set it up i will only need the e-mail address you use for registrationwith paypal so as to put the money through.

I understand these are very common now, and sometimes surprisingly quick after placement of the ad. The name means nothing it will be subject to change.
If the approach looks dodgy it probably is.

Look, scammers are nothing new. Starting a thread warning of scammers on TM... you're not the first and certainly won't be the last. It's not even new. Been happening for years.

Get the scam email. Delete it. Do the next item on your list. It's really as easy as that.

You could have fun screwing with him by offering to help set up a online account for him... or say yes you can pay with paypal but you will need to withhold the bike for 3000 days till the balance clears the account lol...

this. You should consider it your civic duty to waste as much of the cunts time as possible, any time spent with you isnt spent getting your gullible grandma's building society funds...

Thanks for responding, this is Susan Allan. I believe my son sent you a text message to email me for the sale. i’m interested in buying this from you now off trademe for my son who is overseas(Philippine). i want you to get back to me with its current condition, more pictures and your final price as i am looking for a decent bargain. I am at sea at the moment,i am an Marine biologist ( i work on tasman sea off the coast of australia ) and due to the nature of my work, phone calls is restricted. my son checked your advert and sent you a text to contact me via my email address .
Arrangements will be made to have this picked up from you after we have paid and all necessary registration/paperwork will be handled as well before pick up.

My conversation from last night with the above Susan is below. Best you read from the bottom. Note that the text that started this simply asked if the bike was for sale and for me to email 'her' urgently.

Susan,

What great fortune has befallen me tonight. Although I feel you deserve some discount for the hardship you and your family are going through being separated as you are.

However, if you are able to send payment to my PayPal account that would be great. My account is under the user scamme@nolube.com

Thanks

Ok,i just wanted to make sure nothing has been left out
Thanks for the information, it was really of immense help
i am happy to purchase for my son at your asking price and do you have a PayPal account,as i will be paying with PayPal for our own protection,PayPal act as a neutral third party. it is safe, secure and reliable, and also due to the fact that i am currently offshore and i won't definitely be able to make it to the bank to wires money across to you.It is what safe and convenient for me. plz do check it out.
Regards

Bike is totally knackered. By rights, best described as several buckets of bent rust held together with tape and cobwebs. Hence I'll sell for $8000 which is only $1000 more than I paid new.

Yes my bike is still for sale urgently.

Due to you being overseas on a ship then would it be possible for you to pay by PayPal, send an additional payment for freight and then I can urgently pay the shipper from my account so they can arrange to collect the bike?

If so then please contact me again and I can help.

Note that the conversation with susanallan09 was following texts from pauldux04 and dianebaccus in the last few weeks. Hence my reasonable guess at the email which would come back from Susan.

I too was scammed by this person who tried to buy my bike which i had for sale on trade me.It just didnt seem right and after a bit of investigating and reading your comments everything written was exactly the same.
It was the spelling and the way the letter was written which sparked me so now im looking for the right reply to send her and its not going to be good.
