I looked up split infinitive on the interdweeb (to better my understanding of grammar) and found this:
Some people believe that split infinitives are grammatically incorrect and should be avoided at all costs. They would rewrite these sentences as:

She used secretly to admire him.

You really have to watch him.

But there’s no real justification for their objection, which is based on comparisons with the structure of Latin. People have been splitting infinitives for centuries, especially in spoken English, and avoiding a split infinitive can sound clumsy. It can also change the emphasis of what’s being said.

Ahhh, now the furore is explained! Storm in a d-cup.

I'm more shocked by his use of the word SPASTIC - what! doesn't he know you're not allowed to use that word any more????? He could offend people with that :msn-wink:

I'm surprised some soft-cock hasn't whined about the hamburger advert currently on the TV.

"Well, we are pretty mental!" is the line used.

True! And those naughty boys Harry Potter and Ronald Weasley use "mental" quite a lot too! And
I wonder if anyone considered the psychological implications of the band Mental as Anything??

Note my terrible grammar of starting a new sentence with the word "and".
