Posted awhile back when I got it, rode a couple of summers and some of this winter. Brought a cylinder at 89mm, ported and matched to a wossner piston and single ring.

I have a set of the HRC gears inc the original fax from HRC
I had a look through and bugger me the later model gears are nearly the exact same ratios.......
it looks like with a bit of work the CRF450 and the Cr250 stuff is inter relatable there was one model of CR250 that had a six speed or has a six speed available.
I had a AF500 with a ohlins, and still have a AF500 motard. Mad bikes.......

HRC gears .............I'll be happy to take them off your hands.
Crf450 gears will not fit and are inferior.
There has never been a six speed box for a CR 250 to my knowledge.
They sold a CRM in Japan which had a six speed and was a road legal 2t bike, they will not fit.
Yes love big bore 2t........ I have two AFC's full ohlins but neither are road legal.

That looks proper scary! Crikey. You need to post a vid abusing it. You really do.:sweatdrop
Thus far I'm expecting one of dem CRMS to be in me shed before Christmas. I know the suspension needs some love. I'm watching this space.
Those CRM's are cool bikes, run well on the road.
I have problems riding my tard on the road.... short shift three gears and I'm 80ks.
Brought a GO Pro.... every time I put it on ........ I crash....

not a straight fit, but doable as i understand. it was mainly from people doing it the other way arround.
The kart guys use one (6 speed) I am pretty sure it is not a nova or similar.
I will go back through the hard drive tonight.
6 speed......not worth it, they would be a lot thinner and prone to damage.
............ Do you want to sell those HRC gears.... I would pay good money for them or I have a new set of standard gears 3rd,4th, 5th..... we can work a deal.

As i said they are just about exactly the same ratios as the later model CR500's had std.
But no i are not planing selling them.
I think (madman racing or something similar) goes through the stuff about them and might even sell some trany stuff uprated.
for the trails the gearing on the 5 speed was actually a bit of a pain in the tight stuff to high and i used to get blown off by 250's for top speed.
On the motard it is fine, curently pullling 17 and 34 (i think power wheelies in third 3 no issues, which is the same gearing as 5th std.
I would like to see that bike, theirs no way a 17 will fit, the only one I've seen do that was mad Pete from Wellington on his beach racer. He had to grind the engine case where the housing for the clutch rod is.
Any how I'm getting out of my league now..... just a 2t fan wanting to show my bike and hope others like it.
Cheers

The bike was done in Japan, has a lot of custom stuff yokes billet bembo of a rs250 etc and is on what seems to be cbr400 rims, I just trekked to the shed it an yes it does have a 17t and a ground housing and abbreviated cover.
I will post a pic if I can find them.
it has the 97/98 ugly frame.
Oh I remember that bike, thought that went down south...... talked to the guy had another he was selling. Had a lot of spares but he didn't get them I've got an ohlins shock for that model needs a rebuild., not much good to me.

CR500 Riders ( I can't find a live version of the page)
Are the WR gearsets that Honda made as a kit years ago still available? I vaguely remember a disscussion about someone making some up some sets because of unavailability.
I realize the `93 and later bikes have a taller 4th & 5th. That's not what I'm talking about.
I'm talking about an HRC kit that Honda used to sell that had 4th & 5th taller than still.
HRC - are not avaible
they stopped making them very long ago..
IMS picked up when HRC quit,, and are the same as the HRC kits,
madman- are the IMS gears. some sets are left.
(IMS stopped making them awhile ago)
Ah, hell. I'll just type out what my OEM manuals say for the stock ratios:
92-96 CR250R
1st: 1.800, 2nd: 1.470, 3rd: 1.210, 4th: 1.000, 5th: .869
92 CR500R
1st: 1.750, 2nd: 1.388, 3rd: 1.150, 4th: 1.000, 5th: .870
93-01 CR500R
1st: 1.750, 2nd: 1.388, 3rd: 1.150, 4th: 0.955, 5th: .792
Madman says stock CR250R and CR500R ratios are:
1st: 1.800, 2nd: 1.470, 3rd: 1.235, 4th: 1.050, 5th: .909
And their kit changes it too:
1st: 1.800, 2nd: 1.470, 3rd: 1.100, 4th: 0.909, 5th: .750

from memory the WR kits were designed by Honda of Holland for the ISDE and fitted both the 250 and 500
I can't be assed looking for other pics.
Okay here is the trany sold as a wr for the CFR450R

LOL! I'd have to push it until it and get to 10 kms before I could drop the clutch.
With a 15/44 I'm doing 110 kms at 4500 rpm which is good the motorway and around town.
