Fuck that, our national anthem should just be a TL1000 with an aftermarket exhaust just screaming through the gears.

Love it.
They should get rid of the other one though..

New Zealand is unique for having two national anthems of equal standing - God Defend New Zealand and God Save The Queen. Both were inspired by patriotism, yet written in very different circumstances.

Then we could get rid of the whole Queen thing..

Fuck off. A poofter imitating Queer-boi Jackson?

UnZud already has a national anthem.

National Anthems... a song where everyone in the country agress about hmmmmm....
Its a wonder the PC crowd haven't done away with god save the king....

POI Eh, yeah was pretty good at the time... Really for todays world some lip synced DJ dunbstep would reflect our splintered society more.
Maybe something like the telecom giganaire ad... LOL

Great idea.
Use the Country Calendar theme and apply Billy's idea:

I hated that song the first time I heard it, and I hate it still. Absolutely not.

Dave Dobbyn is kind of like Bob Dylan: and adequate to pretty good songwriter, long past his prime and with a pretty average singing voice.

Probably need to update the lyrics.

Deity or not of your choice, on or off your feet,

In civil or other union preferably Rugby we meet,

Receive our instagrams, texts or Tweet,

Defend our free market economy.

Guard pacifics AA+ star rating

From dodgy blokes from Deutchland

If national or labour gets in

God defend New Zealand:rolleyes:

Except to be fair, Dobbyn started out pretty good.

They made a bit a scene of Lorde touring NZ yesterday on Breakfast. Her hand written lyrics of (whatever that song she sung) couldn't even meet reserve on TM. Then they announce the that Cyrus chick is on her way here, each member of the 'Breakfast club' got to air a excerpt of there favourite Cyrus clip...not so for Lorde. Naturally, I don't give a toss about any of them.

As for an NZ Anthem ... I think Kainga tuturu. Get the emotions going when you're not .....home.

Would take to long to sing at an All Blacks Match.

I'm late to the party but I was already thinking Dobbyn. But Bliss is totally awesome. Imagine the next Commonwealth games if we actually won something and they had to play that. Would almost make watching it worthwhile.

Be funny as who knows what comes after 'Buy some Spanish shoes'?

Mumble mumble ! Cho-rus!
Lurch around.

A proud moment.

""I wish I was in Wellington, the cafes and the bars
The music and the theatre, and the old Cable Car
And you can walk everywhere 'cause nowhere's very far"

May not work so well for the rest of the country. . .

Anyone ever put any words over Chopin's Funeral March? Could be a winner.
