Hi there,

Looking at buying a Husqvarna TE 510 2004. Bit scruffy, but good mechanically I feel. 1800km. Road tyres and sprockets included, as wheel as dirt.
No bearing play.

Problem: I've heard bad things about the clutch basket rivets tearing themselves apart, anyone had this problem? Would it be best to periodically check for any debris in the oil, or go preventative and replace rivets, or whole new clutch basket?

Also, I'll be riding mainly on street - how difficult are these to find cush hubs for? Would it be shooting myself in the foot if I didn't ride with a cush on street tyres?

How available are parts for these beasts?

Thanks for any advice!
Daniel

I think thumper talk and supermotojunkie should be your bibles in this matter. iirc the 510 is not the most reliable beast, the 511 came out to deal with some of the issues but is still quite high maintainence, but loads of fun!

Give Nick Kampenhout from NV Motorcycles in Morrinsville a call.
Hes a husky dealer and a bloody good guy to talk to. He looks after my
SMR450 race bike. Nothing is difficult to get.
021545996 or 07 8891007.
Cheers, Sean.
