Welcome to the site.
I'm pleased to hear that you've had positive experiences through your association with the Mothers Motorcycle Club.
Mine, however, are not.
In the 80s there used to be a pub called the Cafe de Paris in Palmerston North.
I played in a lock of hard rock bands from the mid 80s to mid 90s and whenever we played there the Mothers used to cause us the most unbelievable problems.
I'd like to say that they were overall nice people, and I'm sure some of them are, but in my experience the representatives of this gang I've had dealings with have been drunken violent inconsiderate arseholes.
Not to mention they cost me personally a lot of money due to scaring people away from pubs and damage to my musical equipment.
A totally different attitude to, for example, the Magogs in New Plymouth - who offered help and hospitality and treated touring rock bands with respect.

In about 1978 I was flatting in Palmerston North in a house in Bourke Street that had previously been occupied by The Mothers' girlfriends. The Mothers themselves occupied a property just around the corner in Waldegrave Street. Things were not so liberal in those days.
Anyhoo, one frosty calm winter's night, our attention was captured by an explosion off in the distance somewhere. We were halfway through a "What the fuck was that?" conversation when there was this enormous bang and thump from a decidedly more proximate explosive event.
Venturing out into the night like startled day creatures, we ambled round the corner to note that the phonebox that had been a feature of the verge outside Chez Mothers, was no more. Wisps of smoke from the aftermath of the explosion hung motionless upon the still night air. Some members of the Mothers were out and about in their PJs looking decidely dazed, if not totally shocked.
So we invited ourselves in to make them cups of tea and await the arrival of the constabulary. Interesting to note that their entire living room was wallpapered with Mongrel Mob and Black Power patches... Respect.

well a few of the mothers pissed in it just b4 they left. dude comes back and puts his lid on and piss running all down his face. was firkin funny.
moral of the sorry is don't leave ya helmet on ya bike
of course the mothers are like most motorcycle gangs, oops sorry clubs. pack of bunnies that never grew up and are tough in a group but weenies by imself. weedy little wankers. the reason they hang around is they is brain sharing. 10 to 1 brain. seig hail shit is all they can think about and rooting :motu:

Okay, I'll have a go.
1. Frank Zappa's band was originally just called the Mothers. His record label told them they wouldn't release the album unless they changed their name (because it could be taken as an obscenity). Out of necessity they added "of Invention" as "necessity is the mother of invention.
2. Dweezel Zappa is the voice of Ajax on Duckman.
3. His sister is called Moon Unit.

Except, for the first one. I was meaning the story behind how Dweezil got his name. The Mothers story is good too though.
For those who don't know.
When Dweezil was born, Frank wanted to name his son Dweezil, which happened to be his pet name for his wife's big toe. When the nurse refused to write it down he rambled off the first names of all the Mothers. And so was born, Ian Donald Calvin Euclid Zappa. When he got older and was told the story Dweezil changed his name by deedpoll.
BTW looks like he has an album with his brother Ahmet coming out.

Ah. Deep Purple.
I must admit I was always fond of the Ritchie Blackmore style of music production when I was recording - taking Spector's wall of sound idea that extra step to make everything louder than everything else...
Pity Smoke on the Water is the second most butchered song by learner guitarists.
Who knows the most butchered?
A clue - it was sent up in an amusing early '90s comedy film about two time travelling slackers...

Nope. Wrong movie. Although the scene at the start with the 6 foot high speaker is rather humorous.
Actually, I had my wires crossed a tad. The movie is actually Waynes World.
I was thinking at first it was Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure.
No time travelling. Still slackers though.
You know the scene where Wayne Campbell goes into his local music store and tries the guitar of his dreams? He only plays one note before the guy working there makes him stop for breaking the store’s rule: “No Stairway.”

Greetings and salutations.
I feel it is my duty to inform the members of this site of the existance of the Mother's Motorcycle Club (heanceforth refered to as MMC). The MMC is a well established club where the average age of members is below 45 years. My personal experiences of the MMC are from the involvement of my father, a lifelong member.
Any wrongdoings involving MMC members has in no way affected my life even though these wrongdoings required that the MMC have a low profile so as not to attract unwanted attention. The MMC is, after all, a club and not a motorcycle gang and draws membership from many areas of society. As you would expect of any club it does not condone or encourage any illegal activities.

Why not just post about it with pride! I'm sure we're all aware - each to their own!

1970's Bonneville = Mobile oil leak.

Too true....your wife probably had better riding skills than many of them too.
Back in the 70's my dad had his workshop right in front of a local Gang Pad and the members used to come over to borrow tools to fix their bikes...mum was the office lady and couldnt handle the smell of them so told them not to come back 'til they had a bath & changed their clothes.
Was ok 'cos they had a sort of mutual understanding...They would look out for him & dad would park his truck in front of their gate so the constabulary couldnt raid the place.

Uh uh,don't think so - the only Jap bike back then that had a total performance package was the RD350,the rest of them handled so bad they were dangerous to ride. Those old Bonnies and stuff would be wrung out at 115 mph,but that was fair flying back then, and with the roads back then being more twisty and in poor condition a bike that handled was pretty important.Vibration? Wasn't really an issue, but ride one now and and you wonder how we done it! Oil leaks...owner inflicted, with a bit of care there was no need for them to leak.
The best rider I've ever pillioned behind was someone pretty high up in Highway 61,I had always thought those sort of guys couldn't ride for shit, but he was using techniques I didn't cotton onto until years later,it was a hell of a ride and I remain impressed.

the likes of tridents and commandos would see off most jap bikes and a good bonnie or lightning would more than see off a honda 750/4

S/C the quote onthe trumpy being a mobile oil leak mmm huh that was caused by Hairy arsed pricks not knowing what they were doing stripping & rebuilding ! a good triumph doesn't leak! the only one that ever did from new was slippery sam & that was a race bike & it was just because it blew a gasket during a race ( thats where the oil leaking trumpy rumour started) & it was filled with oil every couple of laps & still cleaned up the race!
BSA A65 lightnings & Norton Commandos ( which one do you want to talk about ?) weren't that flasher handling bikes and when they were bad they were down right dangerous. plus the commando is a C$%^ of a thing to set up with the isolastic frame.
Triumph's model designation was originally a mark of what speed they'd do T100 tiger 100mph, T110 Trophy 110mph, T120 Bonneville 120mph then things turned to Shit.
If the British Bikes had been so flash they wouldn't have collapsed at the hands of the Japs & Italians

It's been trashed a million times before, and I really hate going over old ground. The British bikes were 10 yrs past their used by date when the Jap bikes came along, really it's a testomy to how great they were that they could keep making them and beating supposedly superior bikes well beyond their design life.Managment,Unions, antiquated manufacturing machinery and a small scale opperation killed them, but certainly not before their time.

Much of what you say is true, but the British bikes collasped not because of the Jap superierority but because of the superior marketing. They went for a completly different rider. One who was not interested in Bomber Jackets, or the image from On the Waterfront.

Damn straight. My 51 t'bird dosnt leak a drop! my crafty plan is, you put a oneway valve of an air bid in your engine breather line. This causes the engine to run in a slight vacume. No oil leaks. Eat your heart out Edward Turner! The gearbox (preunit) on the other hand has no seals round the kickstart splind, so there's always a drop or so there.
Not bad for a 19yo, eh

You're a better man than I am Gunga Din. I never , despite much effort, managed to get either the pipes from the rockers to the pushrod towers , or the pushrod tower upper seals oil tight. No liquid oil dripping, but over a period they'd collect an oil film. One reason a lot of pre unit Triumphs leaked was that most of them had a broken primary chain at some point, and the chaincases had been welded up. Those that weren't welded , were distorted by overtightening . The other thing with early Triumphs was that the scavenge oil pump wasn't large enough. At sustained high speeds the engine oil frothed in the crankcases, the scavenge pump couldn't clear the oil quick enough, and when you slowed down, the bottom half of the motor drowned in oil.
Trumphs had a rep as oil leakers long before Slippery Sam. The A65 was completely oil tight though. 'Twas a nice motor that.

Edward Turner already did that for you - The breather was at the end of the hollow inlet camshaft,it was a disc run off the cam andhad two holes which opened and closed on ports. So on the downstroke the breather opened,on the up stroke it shut, causing a vacuum in the crankcase.Of couse the breather just vented onto the road.
Thing is ALL vehicles were like this, and cars, bikes and trucks leaked oil - but on a bike you could see it.My old Chev did 100mpg.....that's oil consumption, and it did it if it was running or not.Road tubes were standard for breathers, oil seals were felt or leather, sometimes the oil control was just a reverse worn.Don't blame the designers and manufacturers for the materials available to them, but you can blame them for their reluctance to move forward.
Got caught out on my own oil slick once - came flying up our road too fast in the old Coupe and braked hard to turn at the end (no exit street) I hit my own oil slick where I parked, locked the wheel and shot off the road and into the neighbours rose garden.

The mothers were cool enough in their day, the Cafe de Paris pub for wild nights, pretty laid back and easy-going but rough from the outside for all those nervous of disposition, plenty of weed smoked out back, those bikes Tridents Nortons etc.. 80 mph down Featherston street at night in the rain no visor and shit, rumbled the streets scaring little old woman and making babies cry, you could hear them coming three miles away, back then you could ride stoned and pissed, it's party after party, no-one gave a fuck, eventually cops got heavier with drink drive and traffic rules and pretty much stamped all that sort of thing off the road

nothing to do with increasing deaths on the roads then?
Probably, but just as probable any increase in deaths back then was because of increase in traffic and the usual juggling and fiddling of figures. In 70's - 80's, drink driving was looked upon as bugger-all compared to now, every bastard did it regularly, lawyers, judges, cops, politicians, office-wallahs, farmers, Nowadays the "drink drive message" has been drummed in and rammed down everyones throat so thoroughly for so long that you're pretty much branded a mass-murderer if you're seen holding a can of beer in one hand and a set of car-keys in the other.
Soon enough such things as skipping your rego and not paying Nick "dogshit" Smith his fees will be similarly brainwashed into the public as being a crime right up there on par with murder and treason. The creeps such as knacksted at LTSA(or whoever the fuck they call themselves this month) will be scurrying and plotting their next "great public con stunt" as we speak. They've already convinced 99% of people that "speed" kills. In two years time every slob out on the road will be getting tracked down to millimetres per second by satellites 24/7 automatically anyway. Biker gangs are already screwed down down hard by the cops, they're well tamed from what I see. The days of any sort of real freedom on motorbikes out on the roads are numbered for everyone else too

Yes the Turks are grateful the invasion of their country was not a success.
Even the Queen acknowledged the wrongs of the British Empire with the first visit to Ireland by a member of the Royals for over 100 years.

Vigilance - hmmm. This comes at a cost, financial and social. No point simply watching for the "reds" to come visiting - you need the ability to slow/stop them. Or be in a coalition of sorts that can do so.
Freedom is a right? Tell that to the NKoreans or Chinese?

As I said ... BULLSHIT ... !!!
Ask the thousands in prison about their freedom ...
The thousands that cant come back to NZ ... because of UNPAID fines (and student loans) ...
The thousands that cant travel overseas ... because of court (read drug) convictions ...
The thousands that cant drive (legally) because they've lost their licence ...
The thousands that cant get ANYTHING on HP because they owe $$$ somewhere ...
FREEDOMS that people take for granted ... as of right (???) ... untill they dont have them ...
FREEDOMS that come in all sizes and shapes ... and they ALL come with a price ...
If YOU dont pay ... somebody else WILL/HAS ...

The vigilance is against erosions both gradual and dramatic, so yeah - of course there is a cost, thats another name for a price.
The North Koreans and Chinese are perfect examples of not being vigilant and having rights taken away. Totalitarian governments are not beamed in by aliens, they are put in by people trading freedom for security

You make no sense. Nothing you have said contradicts what I have said and, indeed, reinforces the need to be vigilant. Rights can, and are given away, often with the best of intentions. That doesn't make the giving up or curtailing of a right a good thing nor one that should go unremarked.
You have a basic misconception of a human right versus taking a right for granted. You seem to think that there is some level of deservedness or earning that must preface having a right. A right does not need to be earned nor, sadly for the talkback classes, deserved. It simply is.
That doesn't mean it can't be taken away - but you had it to start off with and the onus is upon us as members of a society that, allegedly, values freedom, to ensure that the barrier to losing that (or any) right is high.
BTW - driving isn't a right, freedom of movement is.

Psycle Sluts part two...
the dirty thirty
the naughty forty
the shifty fifty
the filthy five
zips, clips, whips and chains
wait for you to arrive
hell's angels by the busload
stoned stupid, how they strut
smoked woodbines till they're banjoed
and smirk at the swedish smut
life on the straight and narrow path
drives you off your nut
by day you are psycopath
by night you're a psycle slut
on a bsa with two bald tires
you drove a million miles
you cut your hair with rusty pliers
and you suffer with the pillion piles
you got built in obsolescence
oh you got guts
but you don't reach adolescence
slow down psycle sluts
motor cycle michael
wants to buy a tank
only twenty-nine years old
and he's learning how to wank
yesterday he was in the groove
today he's in a rut
my how the moments move
brut fun psycle sluts
he cacks on your originals
he peepees on his boots
he makes love like a footballer
he dribbles before he shoots
the goings on at the gang-bang ball
made the citizen's tut-tut-tut
but, what do you care, piss all
you tell 'em psycle sluts
now your boyfriend burned his jacket
ticket expired
tyres are knackered
knackers are tired
you can tell your tale to the gutter press
get paid to peddle smut
now you've ridden the road of excess
that leads to the psycle sluts
or you can dine and whine on stuff that's bound to give you boils
hot dogs direct from cruft's
done in diesel oil
or the burger joint around the bend
where the meals thank christ are skimpy
for you that's how the world could end
not with a bang but a wimpy.

I wud just lyk t0 say that there is a mothers motor cycle 0ut there and its still well adn going. and for those thnkng that the people r gettng on in there years in the club i can advise u that they are all well under 45.... And whats s0o0 bad ab0ut it anyway? mi father has been in it my whole life and nothing wrong has happened thats changed or affected my life? sO THEY MAY BE KEEPING A LOW PROFILE? and wot! it dosent mater becuz mayb they dont want others knowing there business! and for ur information it isnt a gang its a club.. M.M.C Mothers Motorcycle Club! Use ur common sense people :chase:
Really! :gob: Not a criminal Gang. Well Oil Beef Hooked. New group in your town is there using the Criminal Gangpatch Mothers.
Just another group, (sorry... club) of criminals, they are no different to any other group of criminals.
Dam right there.
I musta missed something? Good luck to anyone wanting to ride a bike and I think the Mothers turn on a few open to the public do's as well? Mind you, this thread ought to help with that low profile then....
Another informed member.
So what's the difference between a motorcycle club and a motorcycle gang??
Clubs enjoy riding and the social aspect.
Gangs supply meth to your kids as they leave High School, rely on beatings, stand-overs , taxing ya stuff and general arsehole type actions to make $$ for themselves.
real tough buggers, why it takes only a carload of them ( or their wanker wannabies flunkies ) will turn up and give you a good hiding because you wont do what they want.
Skyryder
My father is also in the Mothers MC motorbike club , He helped them win a world title at sidecar racing which is a whole lot more than most of the people ridiculing the club have ever done in their lives . Acting ignorant when you can clearly understand the written txt of the young girl who first posted only makes you lot look like idiots . not her . A grown man who is able to strip and repair motorbikes should be able to decipher bad English without acting like little girl scouts over it ! . Im not a part of the gang and the only part that i have in it is my father belongs to it . What a bunch of douches some of you are
Typical Gang member thought process.
Don't agree with them and they dis all in sundry.
If your old man is a life member of that gang he is a career criminal.
If its soo good why are you not in the group, wow think of the mana you will be able to demand of everybody you have dealings with.
Hell if they don't agree with you why you can send a team of flunkies around to pay him a visit, that's give him a hiding and the usual stand over tactics.
This Criminal Gang sorts some P>R> work with the odd event open to the public to try to build some cred.
Don't be fooled.

My experience with the Mothers gang hasn't been bad. When I was a teen and the world longtrack speedway champd were in new plymouth, we were watching and a group of patched up Mothers sat in front of us. My mum was drunk by 10am so she tapped the guys on their shoulders "I'm a mother too but I don't advertise it on my back" that got a few laughs.
Ivan Mauger even got permission from them to go to their headquarters in palmy to use their speedway track they built for us to get more track time.
They seem to be a biker gang who actually enjoy riding bikes.

Yeah they do. And good on em.
But that's only a part of what they do.
Heard the saying. "taking care of business"
Its a money making business pure and simple.
Their allegiance is with the gang and it's members, period.
There are rules...... What they say..
Cross them or interfere with "their business" at your peril.
