Any recommendations for where I could buy a fender eliminator for my monster 696? I have been looking around and most shops are bloody expensive. I tried online from US or UK, but the shipping cost seems horrendous.

Cheers

Sounds like you're reluctant to spend any money.

Make one out of cardboard.

Design looks like it's a pain in the ass. A guy does cheap ones for jap bikes on Ebay (around the $40-70 mark shipped) but not for the Monster by the looks. (http://www.ebay.com/usr/creese1)
Maybe ask if he would consider it?

Otherwise, $240 for an Evotech (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Evotech-Ducati-Monster-696-796-1100-Fender-Eliminator-Tail-Tidy-/291194492921). GL.

I have an evotech tidy on my Hypermotard. Very well made. Cheaper to buy direct from their website, evotech-performance.com.

I checked Ebay for 696 tail tidy and there was a range from $140 to 200 odd. The more expensive ones were R&G Racing from the UK. I have some of their stuff on my bike and found them good to deal with. No tail tidy though.

Be ware that if you ride in the wet you will get shit all up your back with a tailtidy. Given the design of the tail of a monster I imagine it would be particularly bad.

Would that still be the case if ya get a rear hugger?

You dont need them for a Hornet. Just bolt the plate to the back of the computer box. Sorted.

Yeah man, keen as. My mate Ryan and I went out a little while ago, I tried to message you on facebook to see if you're keen but I can't see your profile anymore.
I'll give you a txt or a call next time haha.

riding in rain could be an issue with tail tidy. Not sure if a rear hugger would prevent that? is anyone using those with tail tidy?

a tail tidy or a hugger isn't going to stop it raining, you are going to get wet either way.

Ha ha.. I meant the splash up the back

you worry too much.

try a 07 speed triple with no hugger or exhausts or tail tidy at all, never had any issues the few times its been caught in the pissing down rain.

I fitted a hugger soley to protect the shock from getting sandblasted by road grit. The hugger really only protects the area directly in front of the rear wheel.

Those ugly mudguards are there for a reason. Removing them looks cool but there will be a price to pay in lost weather protection. It's just a matter of what you consider important.

The Rooster-tail produced by your rear wheel after you remove the mudguard helps keep the following cars from tail-gating :innocent:

I've shortened/removed the mudguards on all of my bikes and have never had a problem with water/mud flicking up at me. Not sure how it would happen with the subframe and tail section in the way

Does depend on the bike and how far the body sticks out the rear. Just something to consider. I get road spooge on the back of my helmet from my KTM if i'm farting around town in the rain.

Hugger does nothing for it, just keeps shit off the shock (which is great to stop build up of aforementioned road spooge).
