View Full Version : Arsehole tourists!

Had some fcking tourists almost take me out yesterday on scenic drive. Piece of sh!t came around a blind corner on the right hand side of the road. Not cutting the corner or anything of that sort but on the right hand side. I was lucky I had about 10 meters before the corner else it wouldn't have ended well. As it is, its hard to panic brake swear and try and kick a car panel all at the same time.
It took me down to close to the piha road intersection to safely turn around which is in retrospect not a bad thing as I was pretty wound up by that stage. Gave up attempting to locate the pricks to register my dissatisfaction at the Bethals turn off.
So there's two arseholes in a shitty red station wagon looking thing (prob with bed in back, maybe a forester?) heading north ready to make yet another victim of these incompetent poo-van driving pricks we allow casually onto our roads.

And for any Labour or green voting losers, I realize that I'm just a bigot as their beliefs and customs and driving preferences should rightfully supersede mine. :tugger:

Yeh mate, here's the Greens view:

Prime Minister and Tourism Minister John Key says there's no need to toughen up rental car rules for tourists despite two fatal crashes over the holiday weekend involving foreigners.

Four people have been killed over the Queen's Birthday weekend in two separate fatal car accidents involving foreign tourists.
Canterbury boy Sean Roberts started a petition calling for tourists to pass a test before driving in New Zealand after his father, Grant, was killed by a foreign driver in 2012. More than 17,500 people had signed the petition as of yesterday.

Here's Labours view:

However, Prime Minister John Key said no changes were needed. He said yesterday the accident rate per capita was about the same for New Zealand drivers and those from overseas, "so I don't think that's a big issue". The Government preferred to work with rental car companies and airlines to improve driver education.

Mr Matthew-Wilson is not impressed by the PM's comeback.

"The Prime Minister is in a deliberate state of denial," he tells NBR.

"Around Queenstown and Southland, tourists make up a quarter of the road toll and John Key says there's not a problem."

Never driven overseas I take it?

This is the price we pay for whoring NZ as a tourist destination.

"Around Queenstown and Southland, tourists make up a quarter of the road toll and John Key says there's not a problem."
They probably make up more than a quarter of the drivers in some areas so in fact are better than the locals.

I got out of nz the moment I could afford a passport and have spent the last 15 years living in Europe / Asia. Driven on most continents and swapped between left and right on a monthly basis when working between London and Easten Europe. In Asia I "sat" my local license by producing a well executed $150 USD three point turn. (pocket, to hand, to pocket) . That's half the problem me thinks.

But anyway tis just a rant ..cant upset our global trading partners

I'm making a wild assumption for sure, couple of backpacker aged white guys driving a budget backpacker type vehicle with budget bed built in back..and more comfortable on right hand side of road.

but i agree with you plenty of shit drivers out there anyway. Having recently done 3 weeks around the south island and seeing friends have a couple of close calls (both indecently with poo vans blasting through stop signs, and I know for a fact there is stop signs in other parts of the worlds) ..it was just topical

Your assumption makes sense now you've explained how long you have been overseas. They fit the description of a shit load of people who live in our might Waitakere City.

Had some fcking tourists almost ...

Go around ALL corners on the wrong (for you) side of the road, ... then you will NEVER meet a tourist on the wrong side of the road ....

You "May" meet a local (or two) though .... :devil2:

But ... update/increase your insurance first ... :calm:

was just test riding it as he thought it had a fuelling issue...only fuel issue was it doesn't deserve fuel.

I like George Carlin's view.

Why do they call it a near miss? It's a near hit!
Look, they nearly missed....
Yeah, but not quite!
