I got this email yesterday. I didn't even know I had relations in Ghana. I have quit my job and sent him my bank details and soon I will be loaded. Yay me!!!!!

Dear friend,

My name is John Kwesi. I work with one of the leading banks in the Western City of Accra, the Republic of Ghana. I am writing you once again regarding my previous message concerning our late customer who died of heart attack in the year 2000, leaving behind a huge deposit with our bank without a registered heir/beneficiary. I use to be his account officer and have in my possession vital documents that will be required to present you as his next of kin/beneficiary, since you share same similarity in name identity with our late client and can perfectly fit in as the next of kin.

I want you to know that we can work together to claim this fund, and also bear in mind that this is real and goes on in banks all over the world without people knowing. I wish the both of us can utilize this opportunity because it does not come always. A lot of customers open private accounts with different banks without the knowledge of their families, and when they die, such money will be lost to the bank unless someone comes to claim it. This is how a lot of Bank Directors make so much money silently. On your confirmation of this message and indicating your interest, I will furnish you with more details.

I urgently hope to get your response as soon as possible.

Thank you.

John Kwesi

Damb, do you mean all those emails I deleted from overseas bankers were for real and I could be a good for honest millionaire now if I had replied to them instead of deleting them?

Congrats you should sign up fast.

With the spread of Ebola, there is a real risk that our relations in Ghana and the rest of West Africa soon may not be able to send us our remittance money or UK Lottery winnings.

John Kwesi is right, though. These things really do happen all the time. Just this month, a work colleague got just the same mail from a bank in Canada...

I got a letter like that. It was very generous and also very tempting but I respectfully declined the offer. I just felt like somehow I would be taking advantage of him and making an unfair profit at someone else's loss. Besides- the recently departed's family has had enough grief.
