Not committing to anything, but are there any rides happening round Welly way this weekend?

Would look at it closer to Sunday, but just something for me to keep in mind.
Just got some new tyres, so need to scuff em in all the way to the edges :wait:

We usually go for a ride Sunday. I think we meet up at Rimutaka Caltex (akatarawa) at 10:30am. I think thats right. Usually head for Martinborough and then around the back roads.

Im test riding the KR today and if I like it then i'll own by the end of the day. So if all goes well and I have a bike I MAY be keen, though I WILL be taking it slow...

*sigh* If only you weren't my best mates man :kick:

Seriously, after my accident I was keen as mustard to get back onto the bike. But when you spend alot of time at home "recovering" you have alot of time to think. Between that and having my olds becoming very unsupportive toward my interest of bikes I have become a bit nervous about getting back into it. To be honest Im not really to confident anymore, so between that and making myself CONCENTRATE out there im pretty much just gonna take it easy until I get some more faith in myself as well as the new bike. I have been reading the Biker Bible (thanks VTWIN) and have found that very useful, would like to try and put some of those thing into practice. And that includes being able to rider slower and smoother before I get to cocky again!
WHOA - rant and a half there!

I say be nervous. Keeps you on your toes. Complacency is bad on a bike and I think I was a bit before coming around the corner and seeing you lying under your bike. Was a bit of a wake-up call.
I would definitley look upon this experience as good lesson.
Good to see you getting back into it though.

Hey Str8, would that be the KR150? You going for the two smoker now eh? Should be a much better ride.
I'm currently negotiating buying a KR1, which is the 250 2 stroke. I love em.
Should be stonking great fun.
Anyway, Let us know how the test ride goes.

I'm about to go for a cruise around Upper Hutt, Through Blue Mountains then up the Rimutakas. Leaving at about 1300 hours.

Should be good for the sunday ride too. 10.30 at the Caltex.

Will hopefully see you guys in the Wairarapa. If you guys are leaving Caltex at 1030 and headed to Martinborough, I guess you'll be in Martinborough around 1130.

How about we make a second rendevouz point in Martinborough for 1130ish outside flying fish. I'm riding to Wild Oats at 0930 with two others. Will see you guys in Martinborough. Then onto the good stuff!!!

Catch you guys later on....... :ride: :ride: :ride:

Guys, FANTASTIC ride today. Despite Jonty and I loosing the main group in Martinborough (I know!) and then Simon (handle?) and I taking the wrong turn on the Water Tower route it was a very successful trip.

The Wild Oaks owner was a trooper giving free sausage rolls and helmet visor cleaning stuff too. I think he wants our custom :). The traffic on the Takas was shite once again :(

Thanks all.

Hey I didn't want a repeat of the last time we went out......and I wouldnt say nervous, just seeing things on a different perspective.

GREAT DAY, good to see all have enjoying themselves.
Well done Sparkybills for turning up....good to see you out of work hours.
YAAAHH Str8 Jacket for mustering the courage and comming out today, those pics are of her new steed...go girl...ring ding ding. :woohoo:

Skelstar,jonty,Badlieutenant,jazbug,Velox....great riding with you all today...summer is on it's way.

Wild oats cafe rock for putting on free sausie rolls and cleaning gear for the visors.....just what bikers need at the end of the day riding. :Punk:

Great to see that although Deano's had the Repsol for almost a month, he still can't stop looking at it.

:Oi: Pipe down Uncle B!
(Oh I've just realised - Uncles give you pressies at Christmas time!!! Remember that black CBR at Motomart that we were talking about.....) :D

Once again.... another awesome ride! Apart from loosing Limbitwimetc... and Skelstar who did a tiki-tour of the back, backroads of the Watertower road (and also all you other lot at Martinborough). And yeah - good to see you finally out riding with the crew again SB! Yay - Str8! The, ahem... "race replica" is a beaut!!!

I found it ended on a bit of a depressing note though - the Kaitokes are absolutely BUTCHERED and because on the way in I was trying to make record time to get to Martinborough to meet up I never noticed. On the way back I rode past one of my favourite bits on the whole Rimutaka/Kaitoke ride (that passing lane heading up the hill if you're going south just after the downhill right then left handers and ending just before the infamous "ball-breaker") and it was shoved aside behind a few bushes by the new straight, sterile, "designed-to-go-200kmph-just-so-we-can-police-it" bit of super-highway! In all seriousness it was actually quite sad. :oi-grr:

Was a good ride.
Good to see all the usuals, Good to meet the new people.
All up...
a BLOODY GOOD DAY!

apart from actually turning up on time, and having noone there!! Then see everyone ride past the Fish, and go to a different cafe! When i finally met up with people, it was all good.

OH!
and we must ban Velox from getting a bigger bike!, She will kick all our asses! (even more than she does now)

Bummer, we missed meeting you guys, we pulled into Martinborough around 1145. We were held up by the events in Carterton. So we headed off to Lake Ferry Pub and then did abit of one wheel riding down east by west after that. Fantastic day all up.

Did however come across Deano, Badlieutenant, jazzbug and the gang on the East by West.

Yep, I had a ball!! What a beautiful day, was good to meet a few more people too. Thanks heaps to all those riding with me for waiting for me and just generally being good guy's!
Must thank VTWIN for convincing me to go for the ride. Even though I took it alot slower I was alot more comfy and found riding sooo much easier with the KR.
BTW- I LOVE MY NEW BIKE!!!

Yes, ditto all the comments, what an excellent day... and I have the sunburn to prove it - bloody anglo-saxon heritage, it's only friggin September! So much for a "quick trip up the takas and back".

Sorry for leaving the main crowd at Martinborough, I really did need to head back home (well kinda). The pace with VT et al was a little hot for my liking, so I went for a more leisurely cruise with Deano and co. Saw Dafe I believe (I was the green 600 behind Deano/Hayden) somewhere out the back of nowhere.

Roll on summer :)

Velox - I agree, just a shocker what they've done to Kaitoke, now it's gonna be a battle of who's got the biggest motor. Pretty soon WT will be doing guest appearances to wheelie one end to the other.
