Some of the replies at the bottom of the article make it clear that it is surely just another revenue gathering exercise.
$150 For what obviously is careless use of a motor vehicle is a little lax though. Take them off the road, before they take someone else off the road. FFS it takes but a minute to clear your windows. :weird:

So many retards posting "this is revenue collecting!"...for stopping motorists traveling BLIND!!!!
...$150 for endangering everyother motorist on the road? - simply not enough!!, these people have just clearly proven there IQ level and awareness & concern for other road users...revoke there licenses on the spot!, until they do a drivers ed course and PROVE there not that blatantly STUPID all the time!.
Seriously!...how the fuck did these people even GET a license? (A perfect example of how easy it is to get a license to kill in this country!...zero skill, zero brain...heres ya Bill & your license Sir, learn as you go!!)
Props to the Popo for actualy targeting a REAL road safety issue :niceone:...more of this please :D

A 30 day suspension along with the fine would be more appropriate.

Now I know it's not an option as yet, but maybe a petition to allow roadside caning of drivers in this instance would work better than the $150 fine?

The comments just blew me away to honest
...revenue collecting?...for driving BLIND!!
and ps mate...$150!! fine...thats bullshit right there!, they have just clearly proven they are a risk to all other road users, and PROVEN that they have such limited brain capacity that they really should not be allowed on our roads!
Should just take there licenses off them on the spot!...and make them do a defensive driving course to PROVE that they are not that blatantly stupid all the time! (might actually save some lives and get these retards off the roads!)
pps...hope ya well :D

I'd have to go with the :Police: on this one, What's so hard about pulling out the licence & scraping some ice???

Scrape?
Assuming you have a spare key to lock the car, what's wrong with running the car with the heater on full blast while you're having your breakfast? Then you get into a nice warm car with the windows already cleared.
Or you can just ride a bike, which has no window to worry about.

Nah. In some parts of the country you'd wander out to find someone had driven away in yer pride and joy.

Fess up though, who hasn't driven off at some stage with less than 100% vis...
Cottoned on to that spray stuff when in UK. Bit dearer to buy in NZ but usually keep a can in glovebox during winter for the odd bad day.
I treated my windscreen with rainex and it helps reduce the severness of the frosty icing over. We banded together and made our employer buy a hose for those of us coming back from nightshift to frosted windows.
Good on the cops its one of those things that needs attention. Not just in winter though, you see people doing it with wet gym/diving gear in cars misted up too...

Dickhead. Tell him so, and help him clean the windshield. Stick an ad on the tv/news telling people to stop being so stupid. Job done until the next guy. Why bother any further?

So no one on kb is a motorist.
What about riding with a fogged-up helmet visor, or tinted visor at night ?
No problem eh.
Car windscreen frozen . . . No probs either.
Revenue avenue for sure.

You don't get on the bike with a fogged up visor. And if it happens when riding there is a fairly quick and effective remedy, you open it. Fucking car drivers who cannot be arsed clearing the ice off all of their windows should be shot. Or have their children placed in front of their car so they run them over through not seeing them. No doubt these are the same twats who only turn their lights on when they need to see, not when they need to be seen.

I concur with the lights sentiment.
But these frozen motorists obviously have more driving skill than some kbers.
Statistics will show that sober, fully sighted road users, cause the majority of road incidents. What is their (your) excuse? ;-)
