Hey guys, I've only just registered but have browsed the site in the past looking at various posts. I've been riding since February this year but I'm looking to seriously upskill myself mainly for safety reasons. Is the mentors programme still running? The majority of threads around here have latest posts from six years ago... anyway, I'm really keen to learn and because I'm at Uni I'm also really flexible with time. I'd PM the mentors listed in Christchurch, but unfortunately I haven't made enough posts yet!

Cheers

south of the Strait we're all Harry Potter fans, and they're known as the DEmentors.

Just so you know! :)

After 34 years riding I shouted myself a training course for my 50th birthday - http://www.2drivesafe.com/. Checkout the website, book a course and spend then the best money you are ever likely to spend.

That's Duncan, and his training is excellent.

There are three excellent schools in Christchurch. Duncan has one. Mainland Motorcycle School is another.

Ours is the third one, and we can deliver subsidised courses.

Check any of them.

Have you done the three levels of ride forever programmes partly funded by ACC. Do those.
If you've done them and feel well practiced and proficient at gold level contact your local IAM group for an assessment ride.http://iam.org.nz
IAM is roadcraft, not pure bike handling. For bike handling a training day on track is highly recommened. You can learn confidence in your bikes abilities.
And yes Duncan is highly skilled trainer, as I'm sure others in chch are.
But do ride forever bronze silver gold first.
