So less than 2 weeks ago I put a new fairing kit on my bike. Along with getting the tank painted and giving it a bit of a tidy up after 18 months of abuse.
To quote the Mighty Mongrel Mob "It was looking rather Sieg bro"
http://www.iforce.co.nz/i/tflijhxe.5f4.jpg
Today I parked it up at work in a marked car park between 2 rather large cages. I made sure I parked it right at the front of the park as I normally do, that way if some one turned into the park they would have enough time to stop once they saw that a bike was occupying it.
It was five minutes to smoko and I was just finishing up on one of the milling machines when I heard a light thud from outside the workshop. I instantly knew what it was, one of the boys walks through the door and reckons "bro some PAE fuckwit in a van just fully backed over your bike" So after a grand total of 8km my bike has gone from looking like it did above, to this...

Yeah its fucken shit. Pretty attached to this bike now, don't really want to see it go to the Star one buck auctions for just minor damage I could fix up for 300 on ebay. Estimated damage of $2500 and insured value of $8000. Never made a claim in 6 years of riding but im guessing its all in his insurance companies hands. Guy from kiwibike reckons any damages over $4000 will result in a instant write off.

People that know me personally say the same thing. Just got a call from the old man who saw the photos on crackbook and instantly thought someone got murdered. Guess thats just my past catching up with me.
Best thing that can happen now is that the bike gets written off and I buy it back for 4k. then I can use the remaining 4k to buy the last of the turbo parts and spend the next six months on the build. I got nearly 11k worth of custom made parts in my shed made for this bike to support over 400hp, seriously don't want to give it up for a 1 buck reserve.

I know what you mean. 3 fortnightly pays and I haven't been able to register the car, failed its warrant last pay and spent most of my money replacing the wheel bearings in the front axle (myself) which still cost $150. I had a old fella reverse into my Guzzy (1100 sport) years ago just hard enough to lift it up a bit and the suicide stand to return. When he drove away the bad happened.
Had to chase him down on foot through the Warehouse car park. He wouldn't give me his details so the Warehouse called police.
His statement was it was already on a lean so it wasn't his fault.
Fibre fairings, clipon and muffler. Almost 3k damage.

Mercury switch to the battery leads going into the tank. When ignition is off, mercury switch is on, bike tips over - explosion.
They certainly will remember to look where they are reversing - having half their car missing.
Also handy warning that there are extreme winds outside and you shouldn't go out.

I leave my bikes in gear when I walk away from them. Then fuckwits can't move them ... (Most scooters don't have clutches so they don't know enough to pull in the clutch, or how to get them out of gear).

Cost her insurance company $7,800 ... meanwhile, on the other hand, I overbalanced and dropped my VFR very slowly onto my wife's 2-day old Golf Cabriolet, the handlebar creating a smallish but expensive ($1200) dent in it. Thank fuck for my wife being too ill at the time to really care, and an 'onto it' insurance clerk who suggested I claim on my bike insurance. Cost $0, didn't affect my policy, and it's all as good as new now.

Odd. Maybe they will get repair quote and offer you pay out to repair yourself.
I think you used to be able to take settlement as it means they don't need offer any repair warranty or it was near the end of his working day and he had a hot date so said whatever you wanted to hear at the time.
