Still havent got it. They are chasing me to accept so I decided to get some quotes to see how hard they were arse fucking me before accepting it. Note that it is not a question of whether, just a question of how much... and whether there is any lube or a courtesy reach around.

What the hell would I do with a 500 2T racebike? I damn sure couldnt ride it worth a damn, nor look after it properly. I would like to ride someone ELSE's one if you get my drift.

I think it's important to have a bike, or several specifically for that purpose.
Fortunately my wife accepts that bikes must come into the living spaces.

Lol. My new partner and future wife fully understands this concept. One of the many reasons why I'm gonna marry this one!

Settle down ewes lot. It's a delicious Suzuki 2t not a wankel.

Crikey, $50'000 and two boxes of kleenex chucked in.

Imagine revving it in the living room...

Why not? If that doesn't work you could pinch a cylinder off it and weld some fins on and make a bucket out of it.

She is in Taupo ... and an earthquake deriving from two strokes ... would be unlikely to be felt outside the room ...

For one who is "in the trade" Pete, is that about the right value - 50K ?

To be perfectly honest mate...I wouldn't have a clue what it's worth. Like any of that stuff, it's only worth what people are prepared to pay for it. I'd rather have a big red one with the # 27 on it. :headbang:

I've heard of other stuff from the same period - RG's and a couple of TZ750's - which went for around that figure. Earlier with a history is still fetching more but the late 80's bikes will catch up I'm sure. Probably worth tucking away as it should appreciate.

Yeah is about on the mark. May be a touch light. No reason it won't sell at that and make the new owner very very happy. Rather one of those than a big Mc any day. They are not making more RGs, unlike the the Mc's. Plus is a true GP bike. One that in it's day would be capable of scoring points. Generally the value growth is seen in the limited run/iconic models, and specifically the GP style race bikes. Eg tz350s have lifted in value >4x in 15 years, and tz750s/YZR500s 6x. Things like LCs have increased, in that same time, but only limited in comparison.

I'd park it in the garage if I hadn't blown a wad last year selling my old 750 and buying another. Though I was sorely temped when I got offered a brand new KR350 replica for 35000 euro last month.....

and that Pete the big question mark.
I'd prefer an RG of the two and what's this bike worth in NZ? no real history behind this one although the RG's and TZ's did feature highly in NZ during the late 70's and early eighties.
A couple of weeks ago there was Dave Hiscocks McIntosh for sale, way more pertinent to NZ and in my opinion behind Freeth's first bathurst winning bike, earning the subsequent bikes the name Bathurst replicas the second most significant of the McIntosh breed.
Who knows where those bikes would've gone if Ken had built next years bike instead of Dave Hiscock heading to Steve Roberts shed.
Some years ago the two strokes shot up in value only for the new owners to find they're a ton of work to keep going, not 'easy' to ride for the average rider, lessening the desirability, and tough to get parts for.
Prices slowed up big time then, but that was a wee while ago.

The big RGs and TZs are not cheap to run, that is a given. We estimated $35 a lap at HD or Pule....and that was a few years ago! Even the twins are not cheap either. But the big thing is that you can buy a TZ and not be scared of using it and not being able to get the parts. Everything is available, cranks, pistons, gearboxes, etc all there. Even replacement tz750 cases at being sorted now as well. None is cheap as they are small production run stuff, but you can get it. The Suzuki world is a little big behind the Yamahas in this regard, but there are enough in use, that the parts flow. The RG in some respects is better as they don't seem to wear the parts so fast.

Reality is that nz history is nice, but these things stand up by themselves on their own merit too.

Yeah RG500's are as cool as shit for sure. Don't think for a nano sec I wouldn't give me left nut to own one. But there's always just been something about TZ750's that just make me want one REAL bad. Like two nuts bad. Maybe it's cause one of my racing heros raced them on dirt ovals...

You could build your own....

Have by accident accumulated enough spares to form the key parts of a bike for someone. I never will (not enough time!), but some one may like to!

Cases alone these days are $4-5k. Shock is $2k.... a tank is $1k, yokes are $750-$1k. Wheels $1k, frame $2k, forks, cranks, Harris swing arm, original swing arm etc all on top. Priced up the kit with a 750 expert friend in the UK a few months back....:bleh:
