Hi guys,

The hornet 250 indicators like are always on. The problem is that the front right indicator light has a delay of up to 5 seconds whenever I flick the tab and up until recently the same indicator light has turned off unless I flick the tab to put it blinking again. Also if I hold down the indicator tab it starts blinking straight away, but as soon as I let go it stops would need to wait up to 5 seconds before it turns on again. Any suggestions why this might be? Do I need to replace the relay? Cheers

sounds like a dirty switch , i get that occasionally , give your switch block a clean out , or just spray it with electrical cleaner for a temporary fix

Thanks guys, that got rid of the delay problem. However the right indicator is still not illuminated.

Another question:

Just about to do my first oil/filter change.
1. Are crush washers replaced every time?
2. Dip stick oil level, do I check it with the bike upright with the dip stick NOT screwed in?

and any other tips would be appreciated.

Cheers!

Have you checked the bulb? They are dual filament, so it's conceivable that the constant on works but the indicator does not, and vice versa.

Crush washers are supposed to be replaced every time. Although I've replaced about 3 in my lifetime, in the dozens of oil changes I've done on bikes and cars. The only issue I had was when the washer came off and I didn't notice - and filled the engine with oil (car). It seeped until the next change - this was early on in my oil changing career.

I check mine with it upright, and not screwed in. Either way you check it, as long as you keep it at or near the full mark you should be fine.

1, I have not replacing my crush washer on the bike for more than 10 years, as long as it is not leaking, I think I will hold fire on it.
2, Yes, the bike has to be hold up right.

Thank you.

Yes, crush washers are expensive (I was charged $1.49 for the last one). Much better to reuse after all a little oil on the rear wheel if it leaks should not be a problem right?
