View Full Version : How do I clean my jacket?

A while back something really nasty smelling got in or on my leather jacket (Revi'it Corse) and I haven't been able to get the stink out.
I'm not sure how to clean or de-stink it. I have tried spraying it with air freshener in the vain hope that it contained odor neutralizer of some sort, and I have covered it in baking soda, which works a treat in the car when one of the kids throws up, but neither worked.
Any suggestions?

...H2S04 would get rid of the smell and everything else, also...

Sweat and rain water usually does the trick.

If all else failed , including saddle soap, I'd take the armour out and put it through the washing machine with one of the specialist washing liquids such as Techwash or Sportwash. Don't have anything else in the machine and do it on a nice day, there should be some nice days coming. You don't want it to take too long getting dry or you'll swap one smell for another. Once it's dry you can apply the leather treatment of your choice to the outside.
I had a casual jacket with leather sleeves, the dry cleaners wouldn't touch it because of the leather. It was no good how it was, so I bunged in the machine. When it was dry it was brand new.

Come clean mate - you were hanging it around a corner, over cooked it and shat ya self. These things happen. Best to let it dry, scrape as much out as you can then sponge the balance away with warms soapy water.
Mmmmmm warm soapy water ....

A while back I stole a leather jacket off a homeless guy (Revi'it Corse) and I haven't been able to get his stink out.

Give his jacket back and buy a new jacket.

This is what I would as well (Delicate and no spin cycle). Hang out to dry.
